Lite-On DVD burner question

I just got a Lite-On 4x DVD+-RW drive. The model is 411. I was wondering if anyone has this drive, and has an opinion on it. I ask becuase I was looking at some other forums, and many have said that they have had problems with this drive, mainly with "flaky firmware".

Basically, i would be using it to back up my DVDs, and back up my harddrive. Any information would be appreciated.

I have one and have yet to use it. There is an article on Anandtechs website, a review of dvd burners and there is mention of this burner perhaps being firmware upgradeable to the 411.

I need to get some media and I'm looking for other software to use besides sonic. I want to copy some of our DVDS. I have 320 gigs of HDD storage available and and Athlon xp 2800xp on and ASus Deluxe 8x board with 512 0f DDR 333 Kingston ram to do the rendering. I hope I'm set up enough to do what I need, but I think the software is clunky and crap. I'm looking to use Nero instead.

I had a 411s , it worked flawlessly with dvd shrink and nero. check for the latest firmware, I think its fso5, dont qoute me though 🙂
 
I have one. I have used TDK +r, Imation -r, and Memorex +rw with no problems. Older settop DVD player only likes +r, newer one works with all 3.
