Lite-On drives no Autoplay

I have two Lite-on drives installed on my Asus A7N8X Deluxe Rev2.0 (Winxp)
Lite-on DVDRW LDW-851S
Lite-on LTR-1610B

Recently I started to notice no matter what type of disc i put in the dvd-rw drive, it will not auto-play, and I can't open the drive to see the disc either. It will just freeze until i manually remove the disc from the drive. The Cdrw is little bit better at least I can still open the drive to see files on the disc, but no auto-play either.

Had check auto-play option in properties, and it was left at prompt me to select application as default. Also tried delete driver and restart, still no luck. What could be wrong? Right now the only way i can read discs in the dvdrw drive is put in the disc before windows boots up. Pls give me some ideas what I can do about this.

Thanks.

What burning software are you using? There's a slight chance that it's running a service or TSR that overrides your autoplay check box. Most burning software doesn't want AP enabled for obvious reasons.

I'm not familiar with that software. Uninstall it, reboot and see if autoplay works, that will tell you if it's the culprit at least.

Try upgrading the firmware on the drives. I used to have a similar problem with my old cd-rw until I flashed the newest firmware version for it. Then it solved the problem. Also check the manufacturer website to see if there are any known compatibility issues/faq relating to your situation.
