Lite On CDRW install problem

I just purchased a Lite On 12/10/32 CDRW. Installed into a Gateway Performance 450 - PIII 450 slot1 with a promise ide 66 card.
Connected the Lite On to the primary ide cable from the mobo which has the cd on it. The CD is master, the LiteOn is slave It is recognized by windows. I can access the drive and move files off it. I can play music cd's from it. I cannot write to it. I have tried about 4 different burning software - Sony Hot Burn, Dart CD Burner 4, Media Jukebox 5.5, MusicMatch 6.0. None of them can see the Lite On.
I have the last firmware on the LiteOn.
Should I move it to the secondary channel as master?

Are they of of the latest software? Try looking for software updates. If you must, look for Adaptec EasyCD 4.03 and above or NEro5.5.

The drive came with EZ CD Creator 4.03 I believe. It won't install correctly. I am downloading Nero 5.5 at the moment. I see what it can do for me.

thanks

I just upgrade MusicMatch to 6.1 and it did burn in of a full cd in 6 minutes! (Much better than my old Sony USB 4/2/6)
I imagine Nero will work as well.

Thanks for the help.

Stick with nero and musicmatch. I could never get that piece of crap adaptec software to work with my lite-on correctly.
