Lite On CD-RW/DVD-ROM LTC-48161H Won't play DVDs correctly?

I've got an LTC-48161H CDROM/CDRW/DVD combo that works fine for reading/writing CDs, but it won't play DVDs correctly. Every now and then it skips a few frames and the audio gets messed up. The only way to fix it is to close PowerDVD and start it back up again. I tried using other software to play DVDs, but they do the same thing. Also I know the DVDs are fine because they work in my dad's DVD player connected to the TV. The drive is set to be the secondary master on my NF7-S. It's connected via a Coolermaster round IDE cable. As far as I can tell there is nothing exactly "wrong" with it, except for the skipping, and Nero InfoTool recognizes it as being 8x read speed (which is what the DVD read is supposed to be) and a review I saw with a screenshot of Nero InfoTool said 48x. Anyone else have the same problem or have ideas?

do you have the latest firmware for the dvd drive?

how about for your mb?

make sure dma is enabled...in device manager, right click on your ide ata controller that has the dvd player, view properties, and check the advanced tab

are you running some cpu intensive program? try going to the task list and shutdown everything else possible and see if it still happens....
