Lite-On cd-r problems

I think that a thread of this sort has been posted before, but I couldn't find it, so here goes again...
I have a Lite-On 24x10x40 cd-r drive that had been working just fine in both OS of my XP/98 dual boot. Then a couple days ago, after I would burn the cd the light on the drive would just keep burning, and I would not be able to eject the cd, or complete the burn operation. The only way to get the cd out would be to restart the computer and eject it during post. Any ideas?

Just an update...I forgot to mention that the cd does finish burning, it just seems to hang while finalizing the process. Help would be greatly appreciated, as I am fresh out of ideas.

I have the same burner, and I found that with INCD installed, that's the program that comes bundled with Nero 5.5 and the drive, a CD-RW will not eject unless you right click on the little green arrow in the taskbar, curser up to the drive letter and then click on "Eject". It's a real pain in the southland. I uninstalled INCD, left Nero on there though, and XP has the stuff built in to use the CD-RW like a big floppy. So, I think the problem may be with the INCD program.

Thanks for the info, but I never did install the INCD....only the basic Nero, so I don't think that it will solve this issue.

2 things...

1) a bump for mastermynd27 as it appears this is unsolved

2) I also have this drive (found from the hot deals forum) and every time I boot XP the drive is not detected. I have to redetect it. After detecting it, it works fine. Apparently XP just doesn't remember it or something... Anybody else have this problem? Anybody know a solution?

Yes I have all XP updates, including the CDRW update, and had no problems like this with my plextor. Me sees it every time (dual boot). This appears to be a recognition issue when XP boots as the bios finds it ok, and it works after redetection.

I just posted to this forum tonight. My LITE-ON LTR-24102B is one month old. had this problem once a coupla weeks ago and then 3 times today. I boot and the green light on the CDR stays on and the computer doesn't detect it. (Win98) I have to power down and reboot. Didn't install INCD either. Perplexing.

I didn't have any problems with my LiteOn LTR-12101B.

Maybe try latest Nero Update 5.5.7.2?
