Just put together a PC that included a Lite-On 40x12x48 CDRW that included NERO software. I have upgraded the included OEM version to 5.5.8.0, but still it stops working after getting 2% into a read. I have tried disabling the WinXP burner software, but still I get the same outcome. Has anyone else been able to resolve this problem? The CDRW in question is NOT on the supported list on the NERO site, but why would it be bundled if it wasn't compatible? Thanks for any help.

I have the Liteon 24x10x40, am running Nero 5.5.8.0 and am currently having no problems. I've probably burned 25 coasters, though, but not recently. I'd check out this newsgroup: alt.comp.periphs.cdr This newsgroup is very heavily trafficked and by people who are into virtually all aspects of CDRs and CDRWs, burners, burning software, etc. I'm pretty sure you will get the guidance you need there to fix your problem.

two things that might help:

1) upgrade firmware www.liteonit.com (should be a zip then exe file you can run in any windows)
2) make sure dma is enabled

hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just went ahead and reinstalled everything and all appears to be well. Nero, and CloneCD, are working great. The only thing I haven't tried was an on-the-fly burn and that may have been my problem before.
