What firmware is on your CD-writer.
Damn, I just remembered: the drive is actually a TDK-branded Lite-on. Does anyone know if I can flash Lite-on firmware on these, or do I have to wait for TDK to produce one?
You will be able to use Lite-On firmware for your TDK burner. You'll need to do the following:
1) Head to the CDFreaks Web site:
CDFreaks
2) Look for the utility: mtkflash (I had problems with version 1.55, so use 1.4x if you experience any problems)
3) Find the appropriate firmware for your model of Lite-On drive (again, more links to firmware can be found in the CDFreaks forum under the "Lite-On" section.
4) When using Mtkflash, ensure you have captured a current copy of your firmware - in the event you ever need to go back to it (e.g. - warranty purposes on your drive.)

5) Follow the procedures: the capture and flash procedure is pretty well documented - and you run them off of a boot diskette.
Best of luck!
Oh, one more thing. How is your drive configured?? Is it the primary drive on your second controller?? This could be part of the problem. If you're running it as a slave device on the primary channel, you might consider making it the master device on the secondary channel.
