Lite On 52x32x52x can write 24x maximum?

I tried burning a cd-r with my new Lite On 52x 32x 52x cdrw drive today, the max write speed I could choose was 24x.
My old 40x would let me write at 40x (duh) with these same cd-r's, so its not the media.

I went to the recorder properties in Nero and its seeing my drive as a maximum speed of 24x.
Whats the problem?

Try a different blank CDR.

I had the same thing happen, but it appears it was an Imation blank CDR that the Lite-on didn't like. I put in a different Imation CDR and all was fine.

lol, yeah they are imations. Its weird b/c sometimes I can write them at 32x or more.

I need to get new cd-rs anyway, I hear vertabin (sp?) is good.

liteon tightened up on what max speed it would burn certain media at with its latest batch of firmware.

you can also check the max burn speed for your media by using the SMART-BURN Media Check Program 3.1.3
