Lite-On 52x question.

Ok, tried to burn a CDR, Nero told me max speed was 24x.

Is that because the media can only handle 24x, or is my CDRW being bottlenecked somewhere?

The CDRW is currently set to master in the second IDE channel. BIOS reports the speed being uata/33 btw.

Thanks

Yeah, it's probably the media that's limiting your max burn speed. You don't have any faster media to test it out with?

Oh, and UATA/33 is correct

Nah, bought a 100 pack of these Imation CDRs at costco for like $30. How much does 52x media cost???

Don't know, I still have a 12x CDRW 🙂

Last I heard, a lot of manufacturers weren't making 52x media for some reason.....48x is abundant though. I've found that the price of CD-Rs really isn't affected by their rated speed, just the number of discs in the package.

There's really no point in getting 52x rated media anyway. The amount of time saved over 48 is negligible. The $15 pack of 50 Memorex CDR's I have sitting next to me are rated at 48x so they're not hard to find.
