Did you install the nVidia Unified Drivers? Available on MSI support site.

i even tried a clean install of XP Pro...loaded all the right drivers..went to MS update..downloaded the cd burner update...I still get the BSOD says bad_spool_caller
I think I'll just go back to my 24x lite-on !!

no offence but why in the world would you upgrade from a 24 x to a 40 x would you think that you would see that much improvement?

I am sure you have done this, but have you gone and downloaded the latest nero? My nero wouldn't work with IAA until I did that.

You double check to see if your Nero 5.5.7.2 is recognizing your burner? Mine came with Nero 5.5.7.2 also, but wouldn't recognize the burner, I had to go to Nero site & download newest version (5.5.8.0) and update it.

Is there not patches out for Windows XP? I thought Windows XP gave burners a hard time.. if you look on some software websites, (burning software) they have released patches for WinXP.. it is possible you need some sort of patch...
