This drive can still be had for under $90 shipped (for those who aren't taxed) at dell.com.

It said 32x drive pictured right under the description, so no, they are not trying to sell u a 32x drive and pass it off as a 40x drive. They are aware of the situation ;)

<< It's $85 at newegg >>

Plus $8 shipping. Still a bit cheaper at dell. Of coures, you have to deal with dell's bs.:)

How is the buffer on the liteon 40x? Can you do anything else while your burning? I have a 4x right now and I can't even open a small program without the cd being screwed up. This deal seems like a steal though...

Get a burner with some type of safe burn.

The Lite-On has a buffer underrun protection system, however, they don't disclose any info (i.e. gap size) about it.

Love mine. Was a replacement for a dead 1 year and 2 month old TDK. It's quiet and fast......

BTW these new LiteOn 40x CD-Rs can record 99.59 minutes to a 99 minute CD. :) I think the previous generations were only good for 90 minutes.
