I recently bought a lite on model RTL40125S 40x12x48 CD-R drive. I was wondering if this drive can take the firmware upgrade that will put it at 48x recording speed. also, can this drive support mt. rainier? one last question, does this drive record in P-CAV at 48x speeds? they recently released a patch for iomega 32x burners (the lite-on ones) to make them P-CAV at 32x and I was wondering about the lite on 40x. thanks

The Liteon 32125W, 40125S, 40125W can be upgraded so too speak to 48x...

I have heard good and bad upgrading the 32x drives...

the 40125S fw is based on Z-CLV writing but they have recently released fw ZS0J that supports CAV and mt rainier support...

the 40125W supports CAV but I believe not Mt rainier yet...

You will need to do a true dos flash using MTKflash and correct fw bun file and it works like a charm.....

my 40125S has been upgraded to 48x...

ok, I just rechecked my drive and it is the 40125W and not the 40125S. This supports P-CAV out of the box? that would be cool if that were true. This can be upgraded to a 48x? is it really worth it to do that or should I even bother straining the hardware? thanks for the responses guys, they have been helpful so far
