FORTY X! It's FORTY X!!!!

Man that is tempting. I do think those guys have a handling charge thrown in to their shipping. Actually their policy page specifically states that.

But still.... It's FORTY X!!!

<< does the 40x do safedisc2? >>

I've read that the 32x does SD2. That's not a gurantee that the 40x version does, but man, it would seem like it.

I *honestly* don't mean to come off as a smart-ass, but my god, what's 40x gonna give you that 24x doesn't?!

I mean, we're talking a savings of what? 60 seconds at the most in burning a disc?

How far away are we from some sort of "insta-burn" system? LOL.

Nice post though, seems like a very good price.

I agree with dietrologia. Im waiting for the industry to get rid of the cd standard and make everything in DVDs.

Hopefully DVD burners @ decent speeds will be these prices 2 or 3 years for now.

My 16x and 12x burners suit me fine... a min or two doesnt really matter much.

the liteon 32x is a better deal, the 40x only records about 3-10 seconds faster than a 32x. this is because it doesn't record at 40x until 58 minutes into the cd and it's only 25% faster than a 32x even when it does go full speed

well some of us still have 8x or 12x burners like me...this is a welcomed upgrade... id rather get a 40x than a 24x just because i can and its damn cheap....sheeeit, i remember when i paid 340 for my crappy hp 4x.

<< my dell says shipping estimate = march 4th, does yours say that too? >>

Yup... I tried to cancel and they said I couldn't 'cause it's already been shipped :) Check your order status, it might provide you with a tracking number.

nice find but seriously...who needs a 40X when you have a 24X already? the difference is not significant enough for me to buy a 40X

I ordered one this morning. Glad to see the decent reseller rating. Now to find someone to buy my 12x10x40. :)
