it tells me its having a "Power calibration error" when i try to burn audio CD's at 24X... havent yet tried data.. trying now...

HOWEVER it WILL burn audio at 8x

It burned fine at 24x until a couple days ago

Looking at your specs I doubt its a power issue. Did you try installing new drivers? If that doesnt work my guess is its dead 🙁

Right but the problem is that it likely cant get the cd spinning that high. Thats probably gonna continue until your at 1x and 2x. Then again I might be wrong.

I had this problem with my Liteon last year, I removed it from my pc and blew it out (Internally) with compressed air, this solved the rpoblem, don't ask me why 😕

50x CDRW's?....I take it that they ae just CD-R's yeah?

It could be on it's way out, CD-Writers do have a limited lifespan for burning, if you do some intensive stuff with it, it can only lst a year or so.

But on't be put off getting a Lite-ON, they are damn good burners as you probably have found before this problem happened, I had the same drive as you and gave it to a friend when I changed to my 48x12x48x Burner....very satisfied.
