Lite-On 24x burn CD problem

This is the drive I got from Best Buy for $60. It seems to be burning just fine; however, when I try to read the burnt CD-R on another CD-ROM, it has a difficult time reading it. But if I put it in the Lite-On burner, it reads just fine. What gives? Anyone else has the same problem? I haven't updated the firmware to the latest version. Maybe that's the problem.

It's your CD-Rom drive... some CD drives have problems reading CDRs... My DVD drive does the same thing...

u can try updating the firmware of ur CDrom drive, but i doubt it would help...

I had a problem sorta like that. I try to read these cheap office cd-rs and compusa cd-rws in my plextor 24x 10x 40x CD-RW and it had a hard time reading them and a lot of the time freeze my whole computer where not even CTRL ALT DEL would work. But guess what i could burn on the office depot cd-rs that are rated at 12x or 16x fine at 24x but it just when it came to reading my plextor 24x 10x 40x had a problem. But now it seems like my plextor 24x 10x 40x can read them find now and i have no idea why. Not sure if its because i upgraded to the 1.03 firmware or not but that may be it. I do know the firmware 1.03 for my plextor was not on the american website of plextor only europe i think. But i went to www.cdrinfo.com and went to get the latest firmware from their for my plextor and they had the 1.03 their so i got it from there updated my firmware and so far it seems like that may have fixed my problem with reading those cheap cd-rs and cd-rws. But one last thing name brand cd-rs and cd-rws always were being read by the plextor just fine so i know my plextor cd-rw is not broken.

What a story huh?
Its still driving me crazy because i want to know why it did not like those cd-rs and cd-rws and now it does with this firmware which i think fixed my problem. But maybe it wasnt the firmware that fixed my problem. Who Knows. I mean i beleive the firmware said increased read performence but i will have to check again to make sure.

Are you using cheap cd-rs btw or no? Curious thats all.

Sounds like cheap CDR's or your CDROM is not capable.

Yep $60 is cheap. And why does bestbuy.com not have the liteon 24x 10x 40x on their website at all?

I was just at Best Buy today and Damm, they had the Plextor 24x 10x 40x, there were about 12 of them.
Now I can just get my next Plextor there when I upgrade, have to wait because I just bought the 24x Liteon.

Well why are they under a different name and how do you know 100% everyone is a Liteon cd-rw drive really? I mean 100% sure too.

I don't know how you can be 100% sure, but I just bought a bus-link (24x10x40) night before last and it was a lite on 24102b with firmware 5s54.

Good Luck
