Lite on 24 x burner EATS resources :(

Yeah. When burning with nero I can hardly multi task at all 🙁 If I burn at 24x it is impossible to use my computer at all while burning. Even 12 is too demanding for my puter it seems. Is this normal for this burner? My friends plextor uses just a few % cpu time while mine uses all and more!

It doesn't seem to matter what I am burning. Is this normal or is something wrong here? The drive is on second IDE channel as slave.
My mobo is Asus Tusl and cpu is celeron 2 @ 1466. Should be enough. I have 0.5 Gigs of ram also.

Anyone have a solution for me pls!

check if the DMA is enabled. Also update your IDE drivers.
My lite on hardly takes any resources. In fact I ran it with running prime 95. I have it in an external firewire enclosure though.

i agree. except i have the internal ide lite-on (2 of them actually).

I don't have bus master drivers installed.. They did nasty things to my system last time. Could that be the reason for the high cpu usage?

this sound like a DMA issue to me.
