Lite-On 16/10/40 Having problems in XP

Ok, I recently formatted Windows XP (to get rid of that virus called ZoneAlarm). Anyway, before I did an ME-->XP upgrade with no problems. But after the format, when I attempt to burn any CD, the buffer empties out very quickly, causing Burn-PROOF to kick in often, causing a whole lot of pauses while it fills back up, and terrible burn times. This is no problem for data, except for 15 minutes for a 500mb CD (verrry bad), but music CDs sound terrible with all the errors the pauses cause. I'm using the default firmware and drivers included with Windows XP. Lite-on's site is pretty bad, but I haven't found any drivers for the LTR-16102B model.

Anyone have any ideas as to what's happening.

I have the same model working fine under XP, but it was marketed by Cendyne. Cendyne has a firmware upgrade on their site for this model (even Cendyne refers to it as 16102B). This may help out.

Good Luck.

Thanks, finally found firmware on their site, works fine now:). They have so many versions of liteon.com, it.com.tw, .com, .com.tw, very annoying.
