Im now putting together a new system with that burner. I liked the 12101 cdrw, and wanted to try this one. Doesn't have burn proof. But safeburn or whatever it's called. It's found in diskjuggler and tried nero 5 as well. And nero detects 8 mb of buffer! and supports everything there. It's a fast reader (16-40X, and 16Xclv audio) seems like an extremely nice drive for the price. I also got the pioneer 106s dvd drive. 16X clv audio(a little over actually) and 16-42X data reading. And this was a 70 minute cd. And I think this drive is more quiet than the 105 dvd.

But im concerned about one thing in the system... I got a globalwin fop68 and athlon 1200. The asus monitor shows between 50-55 degrees C. And I think that's alittle high. The system holds a temperature of 35 steady. I haven't had a single crash yet I put it together tonight and it has been running for 6 hours at least. Not even a hickup... im starting to like this system... but unfortunately it's not for me....

Should I put a case fan in it to reduce the heat? or should it do fine? the outside temperature are at the highest it get's here in norway. So it should get a little bit colder under use most time of the year.

I'd probably put a case fan in there. I bet that you could get your temp down to around 50C which would be an acceptable temp.

55 is fine. But for long term use it will get dusty etc. and go up, so yes, lowering it would be good.

This is an asus motherboard, and what i've seen the monitoring on that motherboard would show some degrees above others. I will try to find a quiet case fan... but I really want to keep the noise down here.... But the idiot of a power supply fan has this annoying thing that after some time (and after some more heat) it will spin up to make a noice 3-4 times the regular... and it wont go down before I shut down the system, and start it all over again... I might want to try another 300w powersupply I got laying around here.

A new PSU or open up the existing one and disable the thermal sensor on it. You can alway slow down fans by reducing their voltages without significant loss of CFM.

I tried another psu now. I got an 300w laying around for "backup" in-win or something like that. Now my prosessor runs around 3 degrees cooler, the case around 3 degrees as well. I do hear it some more than the previous in the "quiet" mode. But alot more quiet from the previous psu in turbo mode.

And I saw on the psu that followed the case. 300W and 280 effective! the one im using now are around 150-200 I think. But I doesn't see any stability issues yet.
