Listing laptop on ebay

Should I start the price @ what I want for it or start with .01 and a reserve price of what I want for it?

Reserve price + insertion = around $12 but if sold reserve fee is returned

Insertion = 4.80

shipping cost = what you want for laptop
auction off the shipping fee...start it off at 0.01 😀

I would just do .01c no reserve. Its very unlikely it'll sell below what a reasonable price would be

i would use a reasonable reserve rate. i feel better that way than try to pull your auction before it ends

I'm definetly not gonna pull it I'm not an arse...

I just don't know what would be better just throwing on a reserve (maybe get more people involved in bidding and interested) or whether I should just start it out @ what I'd like to get and possibly add reasonable Buy it now...

as a buyer I hate reserve auctions and almost never bid on one. if there's nothing special about your laptop I would just start it at the lowest price you'd accept.

keep in mind that if you have no reserve, your buy it now will disappear after the first bid.

1) DO NOT ship international (except for Canada).
2) I would not accept Paypal unless it's non-cc Paypal and you're shipping to a CONFIRMED address.

Ended up risking it and just going with 0.01 No reserve.

It is a risk but a pretty low one. I bought about 10 Canon Digital Rebel's when they first came out, I bought them for $699 each. I was worried about starting them at $1.00 with no reserve but they always finished around $1,000 or more.

If you have an established repuation and a good auction with pics and specs it should sell itself.

.01c, no reserve. Pull it with a couple hours left if you don't like how it's turning out.

why don't you try that, they changed it so you can't cancel auctions w/i the last 12 hours now

if you don't want to take a loss then put a reserve on it and start the auction low...

if you are willing to take a gamble then sell it no reserve

In response to Richie, while you cannot can your auction in the last 12 hours one can generally tell how well something will do from the number of hits it gets, the activity, and the watchers...while there are exceptions to the rule generally if an Item I am selling gets alot of looks and watchers and bids up quickly even if it doesn't hit the target I would like I generally assume it will sell well...which it always does.

And as for background, I was just offered the opportunity to be a powerseller this past week but declined as I don't intend on selling much more for a while....most of my sales are used/discarded laptops and computer parts.
