Listerine, cheap effective alcohol? (necro thread)

Having 26.9 percent alcohol, Listerine seems like a cheap way to get drunk... and it freshens your breath. What could be better? Drunk, with fresh breath. You can't get that from regular alcohol. Any downsides to drinking Listerine?

Before the flaming starts, this thought occurred to me after reading this article. She apparently got drunk from drinking 3 glasses of Listerine and survived.

 

It'd probably mess you up pretty bad in the gastrointestinal sense. There's probably all kinds of menthol-type stuff in Listerine.

I'd have to agree with jumpr, that would probably screw up the insides. It burns in the mouth bad enough, it'd probably make your liver cry.

The reason it burns is because it is actually drying out your mouth. It is taking the salavia out of your glands (why you have to spit after using it). I can't imagine what it does to your insides.

No, it doesn't. I recall reading a piece by Stephen King where he described drinking Listerine quite often in the midst of his alcoholism/drug addiction.

You read a story about a lady drinking listerine and rear ending a car and realized it was the direction you wanted to take your life?

It wasn't actual Listerine or Scope, they filled them with liquor. I don't think they'd be able to find the runway if they were downing Listerine, haha.
