Listening to music: dedicated listening or background-filler?

A couple of years ago, I could sit down in a chair, put my feet up, stare at the ceiling and listen to music for 2 straight hours. But these days, I find it almost impossible to do that. Most of my listening is either in the car, or at the barbershop or while I'm surfing the internet or something like that.

How many of you guys still find time to enjoy some critical listening where it's just you and the music...and nothing else?

Maybe it's just my attention span that has diminished. The only explanation I have is I rarely listen to new music and always end up listening to the same old records for the thousandth time. Maybe I am getting bored and need to hear more new stuff.

I don't sit and listen to music. I'd get bored. It's not background filler though-- I do listen while playing games, driving, or whatever.

Both. Sometimes I focus all my attention on the music, though it's hard with the distractions of all those other drivers honking. Rarely is there a time when I don't have music playing in the house.
