Got back from a 9-4 all-day job interview. Gawd, were the nonstop talking and the 1hr presentation exhausting. Now nothing makes me feel more relaxed than these soft indie tunes!

If you like the Shins stuff on the album please buy their two albums. Both are absolutely amazing.

:thumbsup: for the shins. I've been debating whether to buy this soundtrack. It's been getting a lot of love.

This soundtrack is on continuous play down at the EMS station. Absolutely amazing. Garden State is my favorite movie.

Colin Hay is definitely pretty good. It's a 180 degree turn from his days as part of Men @ Work.

"Do you come from a land down under?
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."

it's better than most soudtracks...however.

If I hear one more sorority girl say that the shins changed her life, I'm going to shoot someone. you know nothing about the shins, B!tch, so shut the hell up about it.

It's become a formula. a little contemporary indie-folk + a couple slightly obsucure tracks from classic artists + a smidgen of eclectic funkyness and you have a hit soundtrack. some movies are even racing to put shins stuff in. I saw In Good Compay the other day: 3 Iron & wine songs, 1 or 2 shins tracks, peter gabriel, etc...

Indier-than-thou! :p

I agree though... loathe am I to admit it. Apparently that show "The O.C." is doing the same thing. PopMatters just had an article about it. (Link). Pitchfork is becoming the new Rolling Stone :).

I'm sure good 'ole Nick Drake has won some new fans lately. Too bad he's been dead for 30 years!

P.S. Sam Beam sure has been prolific in the past couple of years, eh? That new song "Trapeze Swinger" is amazing. I have fun picking out his songs on the guitar.

Im going to just say it but will probably be flamed.

While pretty much the rest of the soundtrack is really good, I just cant stand "New Slang". The song to me is just really annoying.

Why the hell do you care if more and more people start liking the music? There's almost nothing worse than a pretentious, mightier-than-thou, music snob (in this case indie) who defines himself/herself by the music he/she listens too. "I heard them first," "God, I can't believe that she likes it, she's so not indie." Good artists make music for people to enjoy. So, let people enjoy it, and grow the fvck up.
