Yes, there was a hurricane, and yes there was a disruption in gas supply. HOWEVER, and this is a BIG HOWEVER. You are making the problem *worse* by going to go "fill-up your car while prices are low." You are artificially increasing demand, dumbass, while the supply is temporarily low. If you'd continue your goddamn normal habits then the prices would only modestly rise and not a single fvcking station not on the Gulf Coast would be running out of gas. You, the idiot consumer, are responsible for these major spikes in price. Some increase was expected, but you are exacerbating the problem in a major way. Take some fvcking economics classes you dumbass Americans.
Filling up your SUVs and THEN and THEN filling up portable gas tanks is goddamn stupid. If you'd stick to normal consumption the 10-14 day supply that most cities have would be more than adequate to keep prices at normal levels until production and refinement can resume. The EPA already lifting restrictions on refinery levels so they can refine more and make less blends, and Bush tapped the SPR. If you'd stop running around like a bunch of stupid ass chickens with your heads cut-off filling your tanks and spreading rumors there wouldn't be a damn problem.
