What security software are you using and why do you use that specific software?

Sygate personal firewall pro
avg antivirus
A-squared Malware-IDS
Hijjack this(everyonce in ahwile)

I started using sygate after mcafee bought conseal pc firewall(the most effective firewall ever) and destroyed it.

Switched to avg from norton after running some tests and discovering that it was just as effective as norton(if not more so) and didn't hog system resources. That and there's a free version.

Been using A-squared ever since it was anti-trojan and it has always served me well.

Well I just installed Mcafee Managed Viruscan at my dads office (10 Computers) and it works a lot better than the individual norton anti-virus that they had been using.
At home I use pc-cilliin.

zone alarm - it works ok and is free, i liked the old tiny personal firewall but it doesn't like smp/smt systems ( i tried it on a dual p3 and also my p4 ht and both times i get bad crashes from it) :(

antivir - free and is very good and efficient

ad-aware - free, works well

spybot search & destroy - free and works well

hijack this - only when i have real problems

jv16 - i have an old version that is free but it works well to clean out the registry

i like antivir because it is updated so often and is extremely lean compared to norton.

-->I use trend and norton for av..(not on same machine)...Did a bout with avg for a while it misses too many things and often struggles with things it does find, but its better then nothing.

-->spysweeper from webroot and microsoft anitspyware for adware/malware.

-->precautionary sweep once in a while with hjt.

-->windows firewall. Used to use Zone Alarm but don't really care for it anymore.

-->Large amount of common sense about what I download and where I surf.

zonealarm, ad-aware, spy-bot, hardware firewalls...and NOD32--scans fast, doesn't hog resources, and very good detection rate.

Edit: Oh yea, forgot bout the most important, best virus, spy-ware, and ad-ware preventer....COMMON SENSE

People say common sense but i'm actually quite reckless. I actually enjoy hunting down a new virus every now and again.:D

I pick AntiVir for my laptop because it uses low resource and better detection. Same goes for Sygate Personal Firewall.
I also have ZA Suite 6 because it is the best on my PC and Norton AV.
