List things that make life easier but most people don't own

things that have easily paid for themselves:

- aeropress
- burr grinder
- massage chair
- GonG B (figure it out)
- lemon/lime press
- mandoline

I was just thinking about this the other day.

For me: A good emergency kit in the car, that includes stuff for both humans and vehicles. Ideally it will be updated each season (probably need more junk in the winter like heat sources).

Tiny flashlight on keychain, a good one, like a tiny Streamlight or Photon.

Small multitool and/or pocket knife, ideally one that fits in your change pocket. Even if you dont think you need it, you'd be amazed at how often you use one when you do have it.

Toaster oven. Has frequently replaced my microwave and range.

Netbook with microsoft streets & trips and a USB GPS unit. Costs about as much as a good GPS navigator but is considerably more useful. Also need a car charger to be really good. As offline navigation on cell phones improves this is become irrelevant. But I still like my netbook.
Even better is an Aux jack on my audio system and a dub cable between it and the computer.

Big box of gum, much better than buying a pack at a time. Keep it in the pantry.

All weather pen and pad of paper within reach of the driver. If you see an accident or take part in an accident, its a good idea to write shit down IMMEDIATELY, before the details escape you. Trust me on this.

Extra cell phone in glove compartment, no service. Ideally a rugged model or at least a tough Nokia, they get better battery life than most other phones. You always have 911 access no matter what.

Zippo lighter, even if you dont smoke. Too many uses to not carry around, much like the small multitool.

Shoe horn.

I should get one, the rear of all of my shoes are smashed because I'm too impatient/lazy to undo my laces every time.

Slaves...

Seriously though a house keeper, not eactly something you "own" but it sure does make life easier😀

Actually, good pens in general. I hate using cheap generic ones, they are more trouble than saving the money is worth. I like Rite-in-the-Rain with the Fisher inserts. Not many people think about it but having quality pens over crap really makes your life easier. For most students the kind that are dual pen/highlighter are REALLY nice to have.

Small cheap laser, especially for college students. Much better than inkjet for your papers, and infinitely better than tracking down a working printer at school and paying 10 cents a page.

Cooking rubber bands.

Seems silly but when you have them you will love them. They dont wear out, they dont dry out and crack, and they stretch amazingly well without snapping. Not just for cooking, but anytime you need something secured.

Electric knife sharpener. You wont need it a lot, cuz it does such a good job. Ideally 3 stages.

Good quality tool kit with tiny bits. Day to day, find I need it more than full size bits. Also, a 100 piece bit set. Better than tracking down individual stuff thats exotic. Like security torx and robertson (square).

Basic power driver with extensions. SO much easier than cramping your wrist. You dont need to spend a lot of money. A cheap one will last years provided you dont perform any major projects.

Rice cooker? Heh Heh.

Every house has one of those... it's called a medium sauce pan. 😛
