Not a movie, but a the TV series Project U.F.O / Project Blue Book. I remember watching that show as kid, sort of scarry to an 11 year old.

Saucer was buried in the Arctic ice. They did a recent remake of it, 1982?

The Thing was 51'

Invades From Mars, 1953. The tunnels were lined with balloons to look like round rocks but quivered when the Martians ran by. A close-up of bubbling oatmeal simulated the boiling of stone by lasers.

Yep 1982. I'm writing a compartive paper on these two movies. Thanks for the help though guys, just looking for some other movies to include in the discussion to help explain why the 50's version focused more on UFO's.
