Hmmm...wait till I get home from work. I think I still have a few receipts like the $250+ I paid for a 12X burner...lol.

I bought a new cpu at the begining of this year, but it's been a few years since I have gotten anything else. I don't really remember what I paid for stuff back then. I do kinda remember buying a packard bell 386sx with 4 meg of ram, 40meg hard drive and a decent monitor for the time. I think it was about $1500.00. I didn't know anything at the time about computers except that I wanted one.

Only one I've really been pissed at was:

4x8x2 Mitsumi Burner - ~Fall 1999 $120 -- Broke after a year.

Diamond Viper 330 PCI- $198 (I think 7/97, not sure though)
Western Digital 3.1GB IDE drive- $300 (5/96)
Commodore 64- $1000 (11/85)

IBM PS/2 - $3500 in October 1991

My dad bought it when he was doing his residency.

Whenever I'm tempted to go out and buy a DVD burner, or a new video card, or anything of that sort - I remind myself that I can save my money for another four or five years and get something 1000 times better then.

This was all bought in late '98 for the first computer I built. It's my mom's system now.

Celeron 300A $129
Asus P2B Slot 1 Motherboard $135
128MB PNY PC100 RAM $300 (!!!!)

SBLive! Value $100
Zoom FaxModem 56K Dualmode $100
MS Natural Keyboard Elite $58
MS Intellimouse Pro $59

Thats about how I feel now. I really don't have a pressing need for anything at the moment. Hopefully my system will last a while.

New cable-ready JVC VHS-VCR with remote control - $600 (1983)

I think it weighed around 30lbs. Heavy sucker, at any rate. We played the hell out of that VCR and it still worked when I gave it to a neighbor in 1994. Only had it serviced once during that time (cleaning, adjustment, and belt replacement). They don't make 'em like that anymore. 😉

Heh.
Well. Lets see. Oldest piece of hardware... Ahh yes.

Radio Shack/Tandy TRS-80 - Not sure, but it was a lot.
Apple Macintosh Performa 630CD - $2000 (1993?)
16mb RAM for P630CD - $300

I have stuff much older, but I don't have receipts or a recollection of what was paid - because I obtained it all for $0!

whoops. I meant to say is 4/4/16 Yamaha CD-Burner was 350 bucks, i remember back in the day...now look at every burner, mostly under 100, and you get 48x at least or faster.

Yamaha 8x4/x6 SCSI CDRW cost £150. 2000 I think but not sure. Had to also buy a cheap SCSI card...........

Then 2002 I buy a Lite-On 44x12x40 ide CDRW with buffer under run memory 😀 for £50. Bargain. 2 or 3 years later it is 1/3 of price and almost 5x as fast! But in reality it is more 3x as fast. Crazy ahey?!
