Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade - 5/10: I just could not get into this. It's a Japanese anime movie about a traumatized special forces guy who falls for the sister of a girl he watched die. This is a pretty slow film, more about the guy and what he is dealing with and the relationship he is developing with the sister. I think I may have liked this if it had real actors, but it's hard for me to connect with the chracters in anime, so when it is trying to rope me into a relationship film, it's always going to fail.
The Last Man On Earth - 6/10: Vincent Price plays Dr. Robert Morgan, the last man on Earth after a plague consumes the world, turning everyone into vampire-like undead. This is of course the original film, based off the I Am Legend novel, which led to the Omega Man and I Am Legend movies. I like this film overall, but there is a lot stuff that almost had me laughing and while I tried to watch it with an eye that was aware of how audiences would have felt back when it was released, but I can't imagine anyone finding the undead scary in anyway. This got me to thinking maybe that is not the point, that the point is more the loneliness of Morgan (there are definitely a lot of things that point to that) but if you are not scared of the vampires, then it does not really work. Having that one guy moaning "MOOORRRGANN" outside of his was hilarious and watching Price fight off the Vampires or even kill them with the stakes was awkward since he seems to not have any strength whatsoever. The setting was supposed to be an American city, but it definitely looked like Italy and there were a couple of scenes that were horrible edited. As I said, I liked it overall, but it came across as silly so often that I could not rate it higher. By the way if you are going to watch this, please watch the restored black & white version; I put the colourized version on for a few minutes after I had watched the film in B&W (this disc had both versions) and it looked ridiculous.
