Tropic Thunder: 7.5/10. I actually thought some of the dialogue in this was great compared to some other Stiller movies I've watched (and didn't enjoy so much). I enjoyed seeing Tom Cruise in a role that didn't involve psychotic behavior as a result of his newfound "religion". I'd recommend it.

Shoot 'Em Up: 10/10. Rocked my socks. I love Clive Owen anyway, so that coupled with the fact that the movie was badass makes it a 10 for me.

In a couple of days I'll be watching The Office Season 4 - an obvious winner :D

Kind of like how my friend enjoys Will Ferrell movies ( and thinks that Step Brother was the best movie he's seen in a long time  ) where I (and most others) don't find them funny :p.

Yeah, it wasn't too bad for a chick flick.

The Constant Gardener - 6/10 Was a little heavy-handed with all of the social and political messages they were trying to convey. I thought Ralph Fiennes was good as usual and Rachel Weisz was pretty good, though her character grated on me after a bit. The idea behind the story is very compelling, but I think it just could have been done better. I imagine the book would be a pretty good read, so maybe I'll pick that up.

Doomsday 9/10 - Cross between Escape from New York, 28-Days Later & Mad Max.

Entertaining but you will gain nothing from this movie.

I've added and removed Doomsaday from my queue multiple times. I wasn;t sure i wanted to endure a major crapfest, but I can handle a mindless action flick.

A shame. I think they could have done much more with it.

T2: Judgment Day - 7.5/10 After getting torn a new one on Friday for never seeing this movie, I found the Blu-ray for $20 and decided to pick it up. Fun movie. Good action and I thought the story was pretty well done. Furlong really got on my nerves though so it sort of detracted from the movie a bit. It has been a long time since I last saw the first Terminator, so I'll have to dig that up because from memory I think I still prefer that one.

The Tailor of Panama - 6.5/10 I like this movie; it's good, but not great. Good fun and a very good performance from Geoffrey Rush. The overall story is pretty interesting and the setting was gorgeous. It does run a little long, but not enough to ruin the movie.

Definitely, Maybe - 8/10 really good movie - semi chick flick, but funny for the guys
Night of the Hunter (1955?) - 7.5/10 acting is great for the time, spooky to think at what lengths people will go for money
Stuck - 6/10 based on the true story of the lady who hit a homeless man with her car and kept drving home.

The Bros. Grimm 3/10. It had potential but fell flat. Graphics were horrible but the sets were beautiful. Go figure.

Quills 8.5/10. Great movie. Really good acting. Amazing story.

The Orphanage 7/10. Cool horror movie. Creep at times. Wasn't expecting the end. Not traditional horror. Kind of weird though, suppose it is because it is European.

I finally watched a bunch more Arrested Development this weekend. Previously I stopped near the end of Season 1, but I watched the rest of Season 1 and all of Season 2 (including the first episode of season 3 (out of 13)). I have to say, Season 2 had me lollerblading all around my apartment and I found it much better than Season 1. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.

I'd say either 8 or 9 out of 10... I still have season 3 to watch.

Oh and I so want Lindsay to ask me if she could buy me a drink :p. Rawr, she's hot (even as a lazy bum character that she is in the show).

It's not that bad... I mean, you get to see Rhona Mitra in some S&M-esque leather :D. What made the movie good, in my opinion, is that I never found it trying to be too serious... or maybe that's just me? It always tried to throw in some humorous aspects into almost every conflict. It also doesn't mind delving into things like cannibalism.

I think she's sharing drinks with Ellen Degeneres now.

There Will Be Blood

6.75 / 10
Eh....first 25 minutes DRAGGED. Next 90 minutes were great, last 35 minutes felt like they were just trying to cram too much stuff in. I felt for the last half hour they were trying to cram in a ton of other 'morals' to the story, when the one they were heading towards in the middle was fine. The acting was excellent, it just dragged at the beginning and end, which is too bad because it puts a damper on the great performances.

The Nines
9.5/10

LOVED IT. Really interesting movie. Girls will like it probably because there's a sort of love story in it, but it's not sappy. Guys will like it because it's kind of trippy (in a non sci-fi way) and really makes you think. If the matrix trilogy didn't suck a bag of dicks, this is what it would be.

Talladega Nights - 0 / 10. Ferrell usually gets a ~5 from me if I end up having to watch one of his bombs, but this one was even worse than Elf.

I'm just finished the first season again and am about to start watching season 2 for the third time. IT's definitely my favourite of the 3 seasons, and I totally hear you on Lindsay.

Farenheit 9/11: 6/10 I felt I was just watching a newsclips show with Moore narrating and adding a tonne of speculation and conjecture. I had not seen one of his movies since The Big One (which I thought was great) but after watching this, I can't imagine I'll see another one.

The Wire: 11/10. GF and I Netflixed this over the last couple of months, currently halfway through final season. Don't think I need to justify this one...

Did you watch from the beginning, or just the last season? I loved the entire series, but seasons 1-2 were especially phenomenal.

Oh, and you should have used little dots in your list. "The Deputy likes dots".

yeah, we watched from season 1 on. Personally, I think seasons 4 and 3 are the greatest. 1 was awesome, too, but I thought 3 and 4 had the greatest depth. The Political and Education story lines of seasons 3 and 4 are what define this series as a monumental piece of documentary/journalism, because that's really what it is (...in a fictional framework, of course.), along with the final season..though it was too short :|

I think a lot of people would agree that season 2 was the black sheep of the series. A story they never fully returned to, characters that they more or less abandoned. I loved it, of course, but It was more or less independent from the rest of the series.

Oh, just finished season 5 ~1.5 weeks ago:

HOLY FUCKING SHIT

Tsk Tsk...I expected much more from you, KT ;)

Though, I'm still holding off on the BD. the one released in this hemisphere is supposedly sub-par compared to all the others. I think a new BD is being released in UK, Germany soon, if not already....

Probably my favorite action/sci-fi flick ever. I guess I've come to appreciate Furlong over the years.

best sci-fi, though, for me? easily: Children of Men.

The Bank Job: 7.5/10 rented the BD last week. Great action flick. solid story, well-made, clever writing and editing. A little cliche' at times (particularly with the editing), or I'd rate it higher. solid action flick for Stratham. not that I imagine him being able to fully branch out, this isn't his typical character, nor his typical flick.
Also, lots of boobies and hot women. Overall, better than the typical drivel that you see these days that passes as action (Transformers, and their ilk)

I think if I had seen it long ago, I'd have apprecitaed it more. Now that I'm older I watch with a moe cynical eye or something. It was certainly fun and I'll watch it again.

I agree on The Bank Job, pretty fun action flick
