Watched "Despicable Me" with my best friend, his wife, his 2 kids, and my GF last night. Was a pretty funny movie. Had all of us laughing quite a bit. 7/10, perhaps 7.5/10... Story was nothing special, but, it was very nicely put together.

skyline. 1 out of 5. WTF did i just watch. It mixes between ID4 with Aliens.

Devil: 2 out of 5.

For someone named "The Dude," I'm surprised you didn't watch one of Jeff's two recent films.

I'd have to recommend True Grit, even though I haven't seen Tron Legacy. True Grit also has the same director/screenwriter credit (Coen Bros, Joel and Ethan) as the movie you reference with your username. Also, the same cinematographer (Roger Deakins) and score producer (Carter Burwell).

Wow, i dont really like musicals but i found all of these songs extremely catchy. Its a perfect length ~45 minutes and it flows very well. Perfect if you're looking to kill an hour and have netflix instant streaming. Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, and Felicia Day are all great in this.

Tron:Legacy.....a mistake to see. What a waste of time.

Family Guy It's a Trap!.......not bad but predictable. Oh well, what did I expect?

The Tourist.....wife liked it.

Hoping True Grit lives up to its billing....and its heritage. (I saw the original when it first came out and this version has a lot to live up to.)

Tron:Legacy 3d - worth every dime I paid for the Matinee price. Seriously can't understand the hate for this movie. There were a few unresolved answers near the end. At least the story / music wasn't as campy as the original TRON.

Watched the Expendables the other day. I really enjoyed it! Great flick!

meh, Lotta good action, but the story was so cliche and much of the dialogue completely sucked and seemed awkward that "Great" makes me think Drugs were involved in the viewing.:D

6/10

Yeah I mostly agree, although I think that this is one of those movies that will be :

9/10 : Watched with a good buddy or two in the middle of drinking a couple cases of your favorite beers. A good stupid fun time.

-----

5/10 or 6/10 : Watched sober and taken seriously.

That is a good one. Stupid but really entertaining.

The Last Airbender 1/10
Wow. I knew it was going to be bad but damn. It was more like a summary of the first season of the cartoon than a movie and with really bad acting.

What are jeff's two recent films? True Grit and Tron? I do want to see True Grit but not Tron.

Phantasm - 2/10 - I have wanted to see this for years. And when it ended, I was like WTF did I just watch? After reading the plot summary at Wikipedia, the answer to that question is nothing.

I have sat though hall 6 Leprechaun movies with delight. And I'd also rate them about 2/10. And for some reason, I now find myself wanting to see all the Phantasm movies.

So, ya. 2/10 but I definitely can see how it is a sort of cult classic. There is something about it that makes me want to see the sequels.

True Grit 8/10 - As a standalone piece of film making it's very good but when compared to the rest of the Coens work it doesn't stand out as one of their best, which says something about just how amazing these guys are. Basically what we have here is an attempt, and a successful one, by the Coens at making a classic Western. I have to admit that I have never seen the original film nor read the book on which both are based. However one doesn't need to have done so to enjoy this film. The plot
has us following extremely precocious and mature 14 year old Mattie Ross as she attempts to track down the man (Tom Chaney) who killed her father, who has fled into the wild west and has held up with a gang of outlaws. To track him down she has hired Sheriff Rooster Cogburn (well played by Jeff Bridges) a rough scraggly man, 1/2 alcoholic, 1/2 layabout, he would be a bum were it not for the fact that he genuinely does track down thieves and outlaws and clearly is an incredibly courageous man with a very good heart. Tagging along we have Texas Ranger La Boeuf (also very well played by Matt Damon) who has also been tracking Chaney.
All of these characters are in classic western style larger than life, courageous beyond question, or equally heartless, tough as nails, bushmen par excellence, rough around the edges etc. etc. There probably isn't a famous western stereotype that isn't present here in some form or another. Mind you this isn't a bad thing as the Coens have obviously set out to make a Western with a capital W. And they have succeeded in this. Perhaps the unfortunate thing is that... well, they succeeded. We have many of the classic Coen Brothers touches here, black humour, excellently drawn characters, fantastic choreography, great music. But what IS missing that is so important to all of their best work is a sense of emotional investment. As good as the acting is, as good as the characters are, as good as the writing is, in the end it's not really about anything it's just a good story. Because of this there isn't that sense of emotional involvement that is so present in the best of their work. The sense of foreboding one gets from No Country, the emotional desolation found in Fargo. One could say that that just wasn't what they were out to make and I would agree but then one must raise the question of why they did make it. The Coens have shown that they can do fantastic comedy (see The Big Lebowsky) and of course fantastic Drama (see so much of their work) maybe this was their attempt at making fantastic but formulaic westerns? And it is just that.

tron legacy was pretty decent
I just wanted to see it because I saw the trailer when I saw Avatar in 3D and the 3D in tron trailer looked better than any other one I saw (including avatar)

I have to say I didn't leave disappointed the cg and 3d were pretty good, story was better than I expected, and the sound was awesome.

There wasn't one single original idea in the movie......after two minutes, you could predict every single scene. Most of it was just a carbon copy of the original. Waste of time and money.

The first is the only one worth bothering with. If you didn't like it, stay away from the others. They get progressively more annoying, if you can possibly imagine such a thing. The first one was fun, though. :\

Ultimatum is my favourite film in the series. :hmm:

True Grit 8/10 - **SNIP**

Gah, need to get to this movie. Damn Mass Effect stole all of my time.

A-Team - 7/10 - I liked it.

Salt - 6/10 - It was okay. At times this movie was all over the place, it could have been a much more interesting movie.

Boondock Saints II - 5/10 - Maybe a 6/10. It wasn't bad, it took aspects of the first movie and pushed them more extreme which didn't really work for me. It did keep the violence though and the style which I guess is why I watched, it just didn't really work for me.

Well..it is a sequel - so it's going to borrow a lot of the original storyline.

I guess we could same the same thing about True Grit and lack of originality - Oh gee.. ANOTHER Western?? ;)
