Videodrome - 8.5/10: Got my Criterion Blu on Friday, so I re-watched this on Sunday night. This is a Cronenberg film from 1983 about a guy (James Woods) running a sort of black market TV station that is trying to run the riskiest stuff he can find. He ends up becoming obsessed with a particular show and it starts to really mess with his head. After re-watching this I came to the realization I do not have enough Jimmy Woods in my life. Freaking love that guy. Great movie and it looked great; really looking forward to the commentary with Jimmy Woods and Debbie Harry; I have no doubt it will be filled with awesome.
The Underneath - 4/10: An early Soderbergh film starring Peter Gallagher as a down on his luck guy moving back to his home town who starts working for an armoured car company, gets into trouble with his gambling habit, and gets mixed up with a couple of different women. This movie was all over the place; it never really seemed to know what it wanted to be, a character piece, a thriller, or a relationship movie, and it's not composed well enough to be all of them. I like Soderbergh quite a bit, but this is probably the weakest film I have seen from him.
Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever - 5.5/10: I'm a pretty big fan of the original film from Eli Roth, it does a lot of what I like from that campy style of horror film, so I was excited to see this one as Ti West was directing (he did House of the Devil which is freaking awesome). Unfortunately, after what I thought was a very strong, almost Night of the Creeps start to the movie, it falls into pieces about half way through then by the end those pieces merge into a piece of crap. A shame because I thought the first 20 minutes or so was awesome, but wow, what a disaster it became. Funny to see the guy from American Movie in a cameo though; that was cool.
