netflix streaming tries to shove this movie down my throat lol. this any a ton of other asian films, most from the 50's and 60's. I'm not really sure why they are being suggested.
lol. Netflix did the same thing to me with Anime. No idea why they started pushing it on me since I'm not a fan.

Give Ip Man a shot though. You might be surprised.

June 9 - i gave it 3/5 on netflix, but it's something you will like or hate. i didn't say love or hate, because i'm not sure it's a movie you could love. it's a little slow at times, but it works out. the only thing i didn't like was the opening scene. also, watch through the first set of credits.

My mom really wants me to take her to see this one. She loved the books and enjoys the movies but I've never seen the movies but I might bite the bullet cus she really wants to see this to finish off the movies.

It's not bad, but it would be a little weird seeing the final film without having seen the first two as they are all intertwined. The first one is pretty darn good and worth seeing.

DVR'd off of Sundance. This was an interesting documentary. They interviewed all the surviving major players and maintained an objective and honest point of view. Learned a bit about the initial days of black metal.

Sympathy for Mr Vengeance 2002

I'd seen this before, but it was several years ago.
This is no Oldboy, but it's still fvcking awesome. What happens in this film is just so fvcked up. My only complaint is that it doesn't flow as well as Oldboy. It is "extreme" by every measure, but it's not exciting.

Predators 2010 (6/10)

I expected this movie to be horrible. But it was actually pretty entertaining.

The A-Team 2010 (4/10)

Felt like I wasted my time on this one. Liam Nielson was no Hannibal. But the other actors fit their roles pretty well. The movie was just too silly for me.

The Maiden Heist (5/10)

Interesting movie but the comedy was lacking.

Not a movie, but can I just chime in and say how incredibly good Boardwalk Empire is on HBO? I just love this show to from top to bottom.

I haven't seen the last 2 episodes, but it was getting a bit slow without much happening. I think the first episode has still been the best by far

There's some good stuff in the latest 2. I actually like that it has slowed down somewhat. Too much was happening too fast I think. But now I feel they have found a happy pace.

I just love the characters completely.

I have all of Boardwalk Empire DVRed. I watched the first episode and liked it, but it felt like one of those I need to approach more like a movie and bang all of them out in a sitting or two. Generally HBO only does 14 episodes in a season or something right?

12 epiodes in S1
I normally will have 2 or so to watch in a row it seems.
I don't think you HAVE to watch this show that way, but it's nice to have a little larger chunk to bite off at once.

50 Dead Men Walking - 7/10: The story of a young Irish Cathlic recruited by both the IRA and the British Police, where he essentially becomes a spy for the Brits. Takes place in the late 80's in Belfast where Ben Kingsley's character (wearing a distracting hair piece!) recruits the petty criminal Martin to infiltrate the IRA. I liked this; the lead character was great and interesting, both his home life with his oft-pregnant girlfriend and his infiltration of the IRA. I did find some parts a little unbelievable even though this is apparently based on a true story, but it was not enough to kill the film. The hatred between the two factions here was crazy and I think this film did a decent job of reflecting it.

It works out better for me. My TV watching habits are extremely erratic, so gathering episodes and watching them in bunches just works better for me, particularly for these hour-long dramatic shows.

I've been pondering this show as I keep seeing the series used on Blu. :hmm:

Its a roller coaster. Either you lover it or hate it it seems. There's very little middle ground. Even if you love (I did) there are some episodes in the mix that are simply atrocious.

Zombieland 8/10
Absolutely the definition of a man-flick: zombies, hot girls, action, comedy and BillMurray. If you go into it expecting a Bruce Campbell-esque film (but with more $$ spent) you won't be disappointed.

Of the ones I've seen ... Black Market fits the bill for atrocious.

The Secret of Kells 9/10

It was better than I had expected. I love how they sort of matched the illustration style of Book of Kells. Simply beautiful.

I started BSG a while ago. I've been stalled on season 3 for a while now. I went through the first 2 seasons pretty slowly, and the season 2 finale and start of season 3 didn't really leave me excited, so I haven't gotten around to watching more. It is a very good show, not sure I would call it great though. It has high and low points. I'm not a big sci-fi guy though

Try to push your way to the end of season 4 at least, if you can. Season 5 you can skip as it's not as good (though I found it better than most people seem to think it is).

Scott Pilgrim vs the World: 8/10
Ugh... I know I will get crucified for saying this, but I really REALLY liked this movie. Maybe it was the 1am viewing and I was overtired, but I loved the creativeness of the movie. I realize it's not Citizen Kane or anything, but it was a very fresh and fun idea/story/concept. It was just "fun" from start to finsih. I have to admit I have a soft spot for teenage angst/heartbreak/melodrama (which seems to be more 20-year-old-angst nowadays) a video game lover, and a indie music snob, so maybe that played into it too.

Iron Man 2: 8/10
I watched this in 2 parts over 2 days. For what it is supposed to be I thought it was well done. PURE popcorn flick and nothing more. I thought Rober Downey played the part excellently again. And honestly, this movie jumps to 5/10 automatically with Paltrow and Johnansson in it. Not to mention I'm a geek for Rourke too. I just like the cut of his jib. The final fight scene with Rourke was too short. Toss in Cheadle and Shandling, and you got can't-lose.

I thought this one was just a cash in on the first one's success. Wasn't much substance, no character development, and even the action scenes fell short. I felt this movie could have been fit into less than an hour if they wanted to. Johansson was hot but I could have just gotten the same rise from a movie still of her. Her character was bland.
