I forgot to mention, p diddy is a pretty shitty actor. When this movie came out there was a ton of bullshit about how he was so great, blah blah blah. I thought he sucked in most of his scenes and he was a lame ass character.

This is always the case for P.Diddy.

Platoon 8/10 First time ever seeing it. Was kind of weird seeing Dr. Cox with a mustache and Charlie Sheen not coked up.

Puppet Master: The Legacy - 1/5

You have really bad taste in movies. I like it. I'm working through Puppet Master 2 atm. I've seen them all but a long time ago.

Troll 2 I"m not sure what to rate this thing. I watched it again, saw it as a kid, because the documentary Best Worst Movie about this movie was coming out for streaming, its not now stupid Netflix. Anyway it is horrible/awesome. I'm sure everybody has seen the clip from this movie on youtube by now.

I Spit on Your Grave 4/10
A revenge flick from 1978. Chick from NYC rents a place in the country to write a book and gets gang raped by some yokels. Rather than calling the cops she takes care of it herself. One of the kills is interesting but its mostly a dull movie and the rape scene goes on way too long.

The Friends Of Eddie Coyle - 8.5/10: 1973 film centred around a man who is about to go to prison for a couple of years, trying to figure his way out of it, while at the same time various other nefarious acts are going on, all of which connect to Eddie at some point. Robert Mitchum is awesome as Eddie Coyle and glues the entire film together. There is great suspense, though not a tonne of action, but the way it is all put together is quite interesting and visceral, so in a way it almost felt there was a lot of action (if that makes sense). It was very interesting watching this shortly after seeing The Town, which owes a lot to this film (Eddie Coyle is even credited in The Town) and in fact The Town almost feels like a modernized Eddie Coyle. Great film.

I remember liking this as a kid, but that was many moons ago. I think a remake came out this year. :hmm:

ZA Zombies Anonymous 2006 5/10
I had low expectations since this is a non-Romero zombie B movie.
It actually was pretty funny at times. The film was a bit of a gorefest.
Dialogue was pretty bad.
The zombies in the film were of normal intelligence, and not like mindless killing machine zombies.
It was OK. I've seen worse, I've seen better. I'd give this a 4.5

House on Haunted Hill (1999) - 8/10 ..... surprisingly kept my interest and actually had scary parts. Worth a rental. I'll be doing the original soon (1960s I think).

I know I'm a little behind but just watched The Breakfast Club and I'll give it a 8/10. Much more intellectually stimulating than I expected. Thumbs Up!

Ya, that is a pretty god movie. Bettter than most of what kids are stuck with these days. But it is a "coming of age" type movie. Just much better than most of that genre. Even at 30, I liked watching it.

A Prophet 2009 8/10
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1235166/

Had no idea what this was about going into it, a friend brought a copy he got through Netflix. This was pretty awesome. I don't understand French, but the dialogue/script appeared to be fantastic with the English subtitles. Acting was very convincing, and, the level of detail that was covered in terms of the story is just mind blowing. Very sophisticated, hard to keep track of all that's going on. But, it's not confusing or bad, just, complicated. Tahar Rahim kicked ass in this film.

Haha, nice! I had been thinking about getting it on Blu. :hmm:

I stumbled upon it too; randomly went to it at the film festival last year since it just happened to be playing when I was free. Loved it and ended up seeing it again in the theatre.

He brought it on DVD, I just use my BR player for DVDs since Panasonic upscaling looks better than the upscalling done by my phillips dvd player. (So I stuck the DVD player in the living room on my little tiny 26inch TV.)

Ghost World 9/10 - Wow... I can't believe I've never seen this movie. I saw Reservoir Dogs over the weekend (again) and I started looking for more Steve Buscemi movies. I noticed that Buscemi starred in this movie called "Ghost World", so I decided to rent it. This movie is a true gem. The performances by Thora Birch and Buscemi made this movie. Scarlett Johannson was in the movie as well, but she didn't shine as much as Birch. The story is very unique and truly entertaining.

Man i watched this movie the other day after reading your review.... I totally did not like it. Steve Buscemi was good but that was pretty much it. Found it too slow/boring for me..

Agreed...

Never made much of a difference to me before, as I was running an NTSC tv (480i)
But, since I've gotten the HC3800.... things are a little bit more obvious as I'm running a much bigger screen and at a MUCH higher resolution...

Buried - 7.5/10: Ryan Reynolds wakes up in a coffin; hilarity ensues! Just kidding, actually a good amount of tension and some great camera work (along with a good performance by Reynolds) ensues. For a film that takes place entirely within a coffin, the suspense and tension is actually quite great and the camera does a great job of conveying the claustrophobia of being trapped in a coffin underground. There are a couple of things later on that I did not like (I won't get into them here so I don't spoil anything, I think this film would be best with nothing, even minor stuff, spoiled) and sure, you have to suspend your belief in a few spots, but overall I was along for the ride and so was the rest of the audience we were with; several gasps, squeals, and ahhhhs throughout the film. Pretty impressive stuff for such a minimal idea.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) - 8.5/10: I had not seen this since I was a kid and I remember kind of liking it, but I got the Blu-ray yesterday (beautiful transfer by the way) and I loved even more than I remembered. The humour in the beginning is great and the feeling of terror and confusion as things begin to turn is done very well, there are some great shots too; the fish eye of Donald Sutherland at the beginning with his big afroed mug looking in the peephole was awesome and hilarious, plus some subtle shots like the janitor buffing the floor slowly in complete silence later on did a great job with the suspense. It is a tiny bit long, probably could have shaved off about 10 minutes somewhere, but overall it's pretty freaking awesome. Great stuff.

Surrogates - 6/10 - It's on netflix streaming! This movie has an interesting concept and unique special effects. The thing is, this movie had lots of promise and it could have been much better. In hte end, it was interesting and worth a viewing but it was not that great of a movie.

Paranormal Activity 1 - This will include spoilers btw. Finally watched this tonight. Watched it home, alone, with all the lights off. I wanted to be scared. I had been wanting to see this for quite some time now; finally got around to it.

I thought it was quite scary. I'm not sure if it was all the hype and anticipation that had built it up for me, or how I watched it (alone, etc.), but it definitely had me on edge.
One of the things I didn't like about the movie, is to the extreme degree "Micah" was portrayed as being a skeptic. Sure, not everybody is going to be convinced there's something going on with one little event occurring, but with an invisible creature making 3-toed footprints into baby powder... along with all the other events? I dunno... it was just unbelievable just how much convincing he needed. Also, I was really nervous/scared in anticipation of the ending, which I heard was soooo scary... I didn't really find it all that scary. Certainly wasn't as scary as I had been bracing myself for.

Overall I really enjoyed it though. I'd say 7/10

The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia 8/10
WOW. If you have seen the Dancing Outlaw this is basically that only it is following Jesco's extended family around rather than mostly concentrating on Jesco. If you haven't seen the Dancing Outlaw go find a copy NOW!!! :) You follow around a family of white trash junkies for a year and watch their antics. It is a very entertaining train wreck of a documovie. I live in Wv btw

Its available for streaming on Netflix. You don't need to have seen The Dancing Outlaw to get this movie but it helps.
