Joe The King - 7/10: A relatively standard, but pretty well done, story of a troubled kid surrounded by a crappy home life and how he tries to survive. It's a little disjionted in parts, but overall it was good. The kids do a decent job and you become quite invested in all of the poor decisions they end up making. Val Kilmer was good too, even though he was only in it for small bits here and there; this was before his head got all gigantic.
Alexandra's Project - 7.5/10: Pretty intense Australian film about a married man, who appears to have a good life, that returns to an empty home after work on his birthday, with a videotape from his wife sitting on the TV. The next hour+ is really just him watching this tape as his wife really deconstructs their entire marriage and lives. It's pretty rough and intense with a lot of WTF moments. I'm not really sure what the message of this film is, though I think I have an idea, but the ending kind of aggravated me which is why I did not rate it higher. This sort of reminded me of Cache, though not as well crafted or as obtuse (or as good of course because Cache is amazing); I seem to really like these types of films.
