High Crimes - 5.9/10 - Hotshot lawyer wife comes to the defense of her wrongfully accused husband. Pros: decently twisty Cons: Some scenes felt over-emotional/over-acted. Worst thing IMO
was the complete change of character of the husband once he was released. Needed to stay a crafty resourceful murderer and not turn into some deranged crazy person serial killer.

Mother - 7.2/10 - Korean film. Not sure where it was headed at first. Loving mother comes to the defense of her wrongfully accused son. You quickly realize the mother has her own idiosyncrasies as well. Decently twisty, but slow to start. Has the typical korean film weirdness & occasional graphic scene.

Shutter - 9/10 Awesome movie. Freaky and had a great story.
I really loved it when they revealed her sitting on his neck....so cool and eerie
I'd probably give it a 10/10 if it was in English, or if I could understand Japanese. Subtitles always seem to take something away from a movie for me.

They did remake it for america...

I liked Death Race (both the new one with Jason Statham and the original with Stallone & David Carradine). The new one had a much more apocalyptic feel to it, IMO.
I love Death Race 2000, I will admit that the new movie wasn't bad. But, the movie "Death Racers", is a heaping pile of crap.

I've seen most of them favorites are

Blade Runner (Great movie all around)
Demolition Man (Makes me laugh, hillariously funny to me)
28 Days Later (imperfect film, but, completely awesome)
The Omega Man (remake of "The Last Man on Earth"..... with Charton Heston)
Mad Max and sequels (Thunderdome is a horrible film, but, it's also hillarious! "2 man enter 1 man leave")

Wasn't Omega Man based off of the novel I Am Legend? I dont think it was a remake, more of another version. I remember when I watched that movie, I felt a little nauseous seeing those diseased people.

Yes, it was based on the novel I am legend.
You could say it's another version, but, I tend to consider all movies with the same basic story as remakes, it's not a bad thing, after all, I love "The Magnificent Seven", I love "Fistfull of Dollars", both of which were remakes. "Last Man on Earth" was more theatrical with Vincent Price. The Omega Man was a lot more gritty. I frefer the Heston version, but, the Price version is good too. Also, the Will Smith version is good, though I don't like how they made the "zombies" smart in that one.

Speaking of Dystopian films, this weekend I watched:

Soylent Green 5/10 - Interesting story, but not one of my favorite dystopian films. I already knew the ending (who doesn't), so maybe that's one reason I didn't enjoy it that much. I felt that the movie's plot was weak and the characters were not interesting at all. Besides, the movie looks and feels really old, so it is not easy to get into the atmosphere of New York City in the year 2022.

Vincent Price was too much of a pansy ass to pull off that role, you need someone more manly like Heston to do it. Price was good in some of the parts, but anything physical was laughable.

Maybe you'd like the band better than the movie. Dunno if they are still around, but they were pretty kick ass in the 90s.

Last Man on Earth was more bleak and thus better IMO. Omega Man was too, Moses vs Zombies.

I loved this movie when I watched but I love Heston is almost all his movies.

Dark City - 7/10

Interesting sci-fi concept with a very comic book feel. Acting was a little cheesy at times (thought this is a movie from the 90's when over-acting was at its height.) Though this movie took many liberties borrowing the costume design of the cenobites in the hellraiser series, the aliens had nothing in common with Clive barkers version. I got more drawn into the story as the secrets of the city were revealed. Kiefer Sutherland's character has got to be the biggest weirdo I've ever seen on screen.

White Zombie - 6/10: From 1932, apparently the first zombie film of all time, with Bela Lugosi as Murder Legendre (awesome name!) as a plantation owner, or some sort of business man, in Haiti that helps a lovelorn rich guy to steal the girl he is in love with from the man she is about to marry. Lugosi actually has zombies as slaves, so while they have some of the characteristics of zombies from later films, they are not flesh-hungry and they actually obey Lugosi through some sort of voodoo, which is shown hilariously and awesomely as he does this crazy thing with his hands and eys. The film is pretty cheesy and there are some pretty laughable parts (even some terrible acting), but there are also some decent, tense moments. Unfortunately the video and audio were both horrible and I am sure I missed some dialogue because of it, but overall it was a nice, fun 74 minutes of horror history.

What sucks is that Netflix has Evil Dead and Army of Darkness available for streaming but Evil Dead 2 isn't. :(

Army of Darkness is better than both Evil Dead movies. What makes Evil Dead 2 odd for me is that in the movie, Ash doesn't seem to recall whatever happened in the first one for some reason. But I believe Evil Dead 2 is the one with tree rape :p.

Sounds very cool. I'll definitely have to check this one out. I love watching old horror movies.
