Serenity - 7.5/10: After finishing the series this morning I decided I absolutely had to watch Serenity today to see how everything concluded. Took me about 4 stores, but I finally found the Blu-ray and I'm glad I did. This does a good job of completing the arc of River's story and giving us the entire closing pieces for all of the characters, even though none of it was all that surprising. For the two hours he had, Whedon was able to cram as much as he could, so I'm pretty well satisfied with it and it was nice to see the extra budget on this as the effects were noticeably better. Couple of weird things, like it seemed they completely reverted the Doctor & River's relationship with the Captain from the end of the series, plus a few other nitpicking things, but overall it was a nice topper on the series. A shame it did not do better as it would be awesome to see more of these films, I guess there is just not a big enough market for this kind of stuff.

KT

I never watched any of the Firefly show as I'm not into that Joss Whedon guy or anything he does but I watched this movie and I really enjoyed it.

I did enjoy The Time Machine (the original and not the remake).

Residence Evil 3D with hot chick Ali Carter plus former model Milla as Alice will be out very soon.

Don't forget Mad Maxx the first movie with the then young unknow Mel Gibson.

TI was in a movie called ATL which I enjoyed

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/atl/

and he was in American Gangster but it was a minor role in that one

Ahh, I did not see both movies even I do remember their names.

I'm sorry, I've been drinking. I probably misunderstood your post.

It's all good, just want to clarify my position about "decent" rappers that in movies roles. I edited my post for less "harsh" tone.

alright guys, no need to take it so personally lol. svnla, you did imply that TI and eminem were the only decent rapper/actors, and alone posted his opinion

No big deal. See my other reply to him in this post. If he gave me the list of rappers that he thought were good as actors in movies then I would not reply like that at all.

These are some of my favorites:

Twelve Monkeys
Equilibrium
Idiocracy (just for fun)
Soylent Green
Escape from New York
On The Beach
Planet of the Apes
The Omega Man
Akira
Quiet Earth
Dawn of the Dead (1978 version)
Delicatessen
Logan’s Run

Also like Svnla said the Mad Max movies but the sequel The Road Warrior is much better than the first.

Planet of the Apes, which one? Original or remake with Marky Mark? I did not watch the whole original movie but the remake was not very bad IMO.

I did not like the ending of Akira (like it was something missing) but the rest of it was pretty good.

BTW, the rumor is there is Mad Maxx 4 in production. Maybe Mel can get in the uniform and be as mad as he was on the phone with that Russian singer?

Yes the original Apes movie. It's a great movie. I didn't know they were making part 4. Mel needs something to rebuild his character after everything he's done lately.

I heard the mad max rumor years ago. would be nice, but if they do make another one, I doubt Mel will be Max. I'm also afraid it will end up like the latest Indiana Jones movie.

Lots of good recommendations there. I did not see these two (more sci-fi I guess, but still enjoyable and very similar!):

Event Horizon
Pandorum

Invictus - 3/10 - ugh...so goddamn boring. Two of my least favorite things in 1 movie - politics and sports.

Not to say that I don't enjoy a good sports movie, but this one just seems boring to me. I didn't even finish it.

Yeah, it's not very good. I think I overrated it when I rated it, maybe a 6. Pretty boring and overly-sentimental, when it did not need to be.

Damn now I need to buy it on Blu-ray. Good movie to keep around to scare the ladies with.

Haha, yep. It's cheap now too. I got it it for $5 brand new.

There are good films in all genres from all different periods. Not sure why you would limit yourself to just one time/genre.

Pshh I think sound in movies is overrated. I prefer mine to be silent.

I think I *may* have seen the first resident evil movie, but I definitely wanna see it just to see those two :) mmmm

Thanks for the suggestions. I will go back and check out the ones I've not seem though I am not a big fan of older films with "dated" special effects.
I just also finished the Pillars of the Earth miniseries. It's definitely very well done, well acted and a good storyline about the building of a cathedral during the Anarchy English period, political intrigue, love, revenge, etc. Ian McShane is great in everything and he is great in this one.
