Saving Private Ryan - 8/10: Finally got around to this one and I did enjoy it quite a bit; the set pieces were amazing, though I thought the very beginning and the end, with the old man, was ridiculous and a complete waste of time. Rolled my eyes a lot at those parts, but I guess that's just Spielberg's need to inject some extra sentimentality or something. Quite an interesting cast too, though I'm not sure all of them worked. Probably could have trimmed about 20 minutes off it to make things a little more tight, but a good film overall.

woah surprised you just got watched that one. which actors didn't you like?

Ya, totally agree. Seemed like senseless pandering really. The story was about the Characters, but the beginning/end were not about the Characters at all. :\

Yeah, was really weird. Those parts completely took me out of the film. Watching the beginning part I was very worried; thankfully everything in between was ok.

Not so much that I disliked any of the actors, it was just weird to see Ted Danson pop up from out of nowhere. Also, seeing Vin Diesel, as I know him now, was kind of weird. Even Paul Giamatti, a guy I love, threw me off a little bit. Not enough to ruin the film or anything, but kind of weird.

I love the movie.

The part that always get me is
when the german guy that they release earlier in the movie knifes the jew guy in the heart when they are fighting upstairs and Upham is a big wuss and doesn't do shit.
That part always makes me cringe.

I swore to myself that I hated every part of that scene. I even hated the real life actor for it. Why? I don't know. It's cringe inducing.
But that feeling went away during Lost. He plays a perfect scatter-brained genius.

The Expendables: 9/10.
Okay, it really isn't 9/10. But for what it was, it was 9/10. A fun popcorn flick. I miss good, fun films that don't take themselves that seriously. There was some good fun films made in the late 90s and the early 2000's that were this way. The Italian Job, National Treasure. Just good fun.
Even though it's geared towards the modern day Commando, I see it as something that hopefully sets a trend. Don't friggin give me a political message, or ask me to do some moral re-thinking.
Preachy and cheesy do not mix.

Piranha 3D - 8/10 - I'm not exactly the biggest B-movie or gore fan in the world, but I knew what this movie was going into it, so I won't say silly things like "too much blood." Overall, I thought the movie was a pretty crazy ride, and I think it was actually made even better by all the people in the theater. It was amusing when one of those quick "got'chas!" would come up and the girls in the theater would gasp/shriek.

Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star - 6/10 - It was alright I guess. It had a few laughs, but some of the jokes were kind of stale. It was only $2.50 at Wal-Mart, so I'm not exactly complaining (except that I didn't realize that it was Full-screen D:).

Saw this the other night too. Went into it expecting something much, much less entertaining than it really was based on the lackluster reviews/medial. But it really was a very funny, entertaining movie with the right type of sarcastic one-liners dropped at the perfect times.

Chris Evans (Johnny Storm, Fantasic 4) was a riot with the best lines in the movie. You could tell it was a movie where the cast really did gel together and had fun making it.

Can't recall if I talked about this movie yet, but .... you know, I just couldn't get into that movie at all. I do agree that Chris Evans was by far the best part of the movie, but it seems that everyone else was just boring in contrast.

Good movie :D - 3 1/2 hours long though..I tivo'd through the parts without dialogue. Really surprisingly good acting...especially by Kikuchiyo (菊千代) (Toshirō Mifune)

err, what do you mean by tivo'd? Do you mean fast forward? Not really watching a movie then are you.

If you watch a movie for 3hours but skip 1/2 hour (actually still kind of watching it since it's still on screen) then it still counts as watching the movie ^_^

IMHO the only legit use of FF through a movie is for pornos :D otherwise it doesn't count imo. If you don't like the film enough to continue then just stop watching.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - 8/10 - pretty interesting movie. Lily Cole is one hot piece of ass. She gets a 10/10.

The Spy Next Door - 4/10 - I usually love Jackie Chan movies but this one sucked. Probably because it the focus wasn't primarily on him. The other actors in the movie really sucked too.

I would say most of Jackie Chan's Hollywood work suck.

I re-watched this last night. What a stunning Blu-ray, both visually and aurally. Amazing.

The Wire (Season 1) - 9/10: Pretty damn awesome show. The police procedural aspects feel very real, as do the street interactions, and are awesome. I'm probably one of the few that have not seen this show, so not much else to say; it's early, but damn, Omar could be one of my favourite TV characters of all time. I sure hope he is in more episodes in the upcoming seasons because he is all kinds of awesome.

You might consider checking out Treme, also created by David Simon. It aired this year, and it's about New Orleans in the wake of Katrina. I just finished it and it's pretty good, if not on the same level as The Wire. It shares a few of the same actors, but no Mcnulty or Omar. :(

Omar really is a great character. When Obama admits the wire is his favorite show and Omar his favorite character, that says something lol.

As you get further into the show you get even more connected to all the characters, and there are so many GREAT ones.
