for some reason I don't remember much of Tyson, but I remember enjoying it. that dude is some kind of crazy though. you're right, damn lucky he had a mentor that he listened to otherwise he would probably be dead
The Breakfast Club - 6/10 - Didn't expect much from this one. Nothing remarkable about it.

The Inglorious Bastards 1978 - 6/10
I was disappointed with this. It was a decently good film, but, the dialogue was horrible. It was very cheesy, and things just seemed too convenient. The plot and story were good. The acting was good. The movie had an awesome attitude. It could have been so much more. I watched it from IFC, and they had an English Dubbed version. I believe the dubbing took away from the film, and had a lot to do with my problems with the dialogue and cheesiness. I would like to see this in it's original language with subtitles.
Makin progress on my home theater, ordered a Mitsubishi 3800 with a 106 inch screen from Costco, and my ceiling is nearly done (will finish it off after I mount the projector and screen) Walls are almost ready to paint. I predict that in about 3-4 weeks, I'll be going on a weeklong movie marathon... muahahahahaahah!
If you do it, you'll likely run out of money a bunch of times ... Been working on this on and off for about 2 years ....Nice man, sounds awesome! Maybe I need to buy a house so I can set something like that up. :hmm:

All the while, using my old Toshiba 61inch 4:3 rear projection 640i set. Black levels and contrast are great, and it's actually very bright, but, it takes up my whole living room (and won't fit down the stairs into the basement.) So, I'm VERY much looking forward to this. I wanted a 92-96 inch screen, but the costco deal was too good to pass up, so that's why I'm getting the 106 (my room is only 10 feet wide ... hah)
My movie marathon will be on patio furniture, as I pretty much have $0 left in the budget, hahaha.
Hot Tub Time Machine - 8/10 - This was pretty good and funny. Some parts were dumb but overall a decent movie.
Haha, well whatever works at that point. So which film have you chosen to pop the cherry on that setup?

Kick-Ass - 9/10 - I normally don't care for superhero movies but this one was...well...Kick-Ass!

A History of Violence 4/10 - Cronenberg needs to stick to the bizarre gore / psychological horror flicks he's so known for. This is probably his most "normal" film to date, though I admit not knowing a lot of his work. Unfortunately it's largely a failure. I won't give away the plot except to say it revolves around a man living a quaint family life who has a violent past that comes bad to haunt him. There are some nice Cronenberg touches in here. Many of the sets are very well shot and the film conveys a sense of tension and suspense very well. However it fairly quickly devolves from an interesting suspense/thriller into an almost laughably bad Steven Seagal like kill fest. I guess part of the problem is that Cronenberg can't quite let go of his bizarre fantasy world with its angular larger than life characters. That's fine in the type of genre he has helped to pioneer but when you drag it into a film set in the "real world" it ends up being more comical seeming than anything.
Eastbound & Down - Season 1 - 8.5/10 - HBO (mini?)series I had never heard of until a friend dropped season one off at my house. Follows an ex-major league pitcher into life after the big leagues. oh, and hes a major asshole with a hilariously skewed self-centered worldview. funny, though crude at times (not a bad thing at all, just wont appeal to everyone). looking fwd to second season.
Yeah, I only found this one to be ok too, though I think I liked it a bit more than you. I did, however, love Eastern Promises.

Nothing remarkable about the greatest coming-of-age character study on film to date? Come on now, I can see not appreciating the content but the acting and interaction was genuine.
