You figure out the open ending 5 mintues in?

I said to my wife when they were getting off the boat
"I'm calling it now, he's really the crazy one and a patient there"

Of course there was no way to know if I was right or not until later on in the film and I watched it with an open mind that it could be that or not.

ya, that part was not exactly a secret. From watching the movie it was fairly apparent.
Probably about 1/4 of the way in, the mannerisms gave it away. Sixth Sense Spoiler coming: It wasn't like the Sixth Sense where it was a surprise at the end that the guy was dead the whole time. The twist was the open ending that no one could have expected.

It's not good for M. Night Shyamalan when audiences starting mocking his movie trailers. "The screen showed, 'From the mind of M. Night Shyamalan.' Then everyone erupted in laughter."

Director M. Night Shyamalan may need to take his name out of his own movie trailer. When the promo for "Devil" -- which he produced -- played before a Friday night screening of "Inception" at the 34th Street IMAX theater, the crowd booed when the screen showed, "From the mind of M. Night Shyamalan." "Then everyone erupted in laughter," a moviegoer reports. Shyamalan directed "The Sixth Sense" but his subsequent pictures -- including "The Happening" and "The Village" -- have flopped. A rep for Universal had no comment.

Inception 7.5/10

Not as good as everyone is making it out to be but still a good movie. The beginning felt too slow and the pacing didn't seem right to me compared to the rest of the movie. The second half of the movie though was very very good. The ending is fairly predictable but the second half was what made the movie and yes the tilting hotel fight scenes were really cool.

The Year My Parents Went On Vacation (O Ano em Que Meus Pais Saíram de Férias) - 6.5/10: A Brazilian film set in 1970 with the World Cup, and political unrest, as the backdrop. A young boy is dropped off at his Grandfather's place, in a Jewish neighbourhodd in Sao Paolo, while his parents go on "vacation"; unfortunately his Grandfather has just died and he is taken in by a older Jewish man. It's a decent film, with some interesting elements of a typical coming of age story as well as having some political and even religious elements thrown in, but overall it was not as compelling as I hoped it would be. Anyway, some good parts and an interesting premise, but I was hoping to care more.

Just read a short article from I believe esquire that suggested 3 guys who could be the next James Bond

First two, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Hugh Jackman

Last was Tom Hardy. Do it!

Heh, I still need to see him in more stuff, but he seems like he could pull it off. Actually any of those guys would be good in my opinion.

you gotta check bronson. not the greatest movie, but the pieces that put it together are nice

Yeah I've been trying to get it for a long time, but apparently a lot of other people want to see it, so it's taking forever. :(

Grave of the Fireflies - 2/10: So yeah, I guess I hate anime; particularly I think I really hate dramatic anime. I really, really wanted to like this film; I waited until it was dark, I closed the windows so I could hear everything properly and stay focused, but by about 20 minutes in I just wanted to turn it off. I even switched over to the dubbed version part way to see if that would help me like it more, but it did not, it was worse. I've come to the realization I cannot attach myself to a cartoon; there are no consequences if you are cartoon, so in dramatic cartoons it just never works for me when they try to elicit an emotional response. I barely made it through this movie and almost turned it off a few times; I was ecstatic when that 90 minutes mercifully came to an end.

The Book of Eli - liked it, actually really liked it. will probably see it again.

Cop Out - i know kevin smith didn't write it, but i was expecting more. i just thought it fell really short in pretty much all accounts. it was okay, but i would have a hard time recommending it.

Rome: Season 1 & 2 - 8/10
I really enjoyed the series, but there was too much drama vs. action. I was also dissapointed that the end of season 2 was rushed due to the cancellation of the series. The characters of Vorenus and Pullo were very well done and I really enjoyed the actors that played them. Cleopatra on the other hand was awful. Overall, I enjoyed the series, but not nearly as much as I enjoyed Spartacus. Spartacus was non-stop action and entertainment and received a solid 10/10 in a review I did a couple months ago.

Mother - 8/10
Very interesting movie. It was fun to watch the mystery unfold, although a bit confusing at times. I need to watch this movie a second time to fully understand the entire plot of events.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - 9/10
I really enjoyed this murder mystery. Great actors and story.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - 7/10
Adequate story and pretty funny at times. I forgot Emperor Palpatine was the butler in this movie. I kept waiting for him to force-lightning Steve Martin. That would've definitely earned it a solid 10 in my book.

OngBak 2 - 3/10
Really there was more choreography in this movie than movie. There were really no scenes that gave me a wow factor either as all the fighting scenes made everything diluted. As Tony Jaa directed this movie, it was no surprise that he more biased toward the fighting scenes than a coherent story. A lot of the scenes and even characters could be taken and it would be the same movie. They gave a little twist ending, maybe to set up a sequel but that point I didn't care. I really don't see any correlation with OnkBak 1 either since they take place in different time periods.

Atonement - 7/10
Well scripted, good acting, awesome set pieces. I like the little quirks they put into the storytelling. (e.g. different viewpoints of the same scene right after each other) The ending was touching and is what really gave the whole movie a certain personality once you start recalling the previous scenes and how it relates to the ending. But the first 75% of the movie, though not boring, did not push me past the meter of "mildly interested". Maybe that was the reason the ending seemed so superb. This film is a good study on camera angles and atmosphere if you're into that sort of bid.

I agree but enjoyed that once the pace picked up it never really lulled at all

8.5 from me.
