About a 7 sounds right. But the thing is, ponty, that clichéd story works so well, because it lets people connect to the character. I mean, who hasn't wished that they could have some interesting power? :p

Michael Cera probably didn't get it because he's in the upcoming movie Scott Pilgrim vs The World.

wow, really?

Scott Pilgrim's life is so awesome. He's 23 years old, in a rock band, "between jobs," and dating a cute high school girl. Everything's fantastic until a seriously mind-blowing, dangerously fashionable, roller blading delivery girl named Ramona Flowers starts cruising through his dreams and sailing by him at parties. But the path to Ms. Flowers isn't covered in rose petals. Ramona's seven evil exes stand between Scott and true happiness. Can Scott beat the bad guys and get the girl without turning his precious little life upside-down?

A change of pace for Michael Cera? I bet he still acts like a whiny loser in this role.

haha, there are trailers, and yep, pretty much the same acting as usual for him. The movie seems kind of interesting though.

Check out the trailers for the movie... it actually looks quite interesting and while he sort of plays a "wimpy kid" in the movie, he actually fights quite a bit from what I've seen. I guess he's sort of growing up after Youth in Revolt (a pretty boring movie, IMO :p).

Here are the trailers on Apple's trailer thing:

If you can't use those, you can probably find them on Youtube. I use QTA so I can just download the trailers and play them in MP:HC.

any thoughts on inception? I don't wanna venture into that thread in fear of spoilers. There have been 3 or 4 people on facebook that have mentioned it, all of them said it was, or might have been, the best movie they've ever seen. So basically I'm expecting to be dissapointed

She's outta my league - 8/10 as far as romantic comedys go. some hilarious moments, and the requisite amount of cheese.

I was blown away.
Other than looking at numbers (RT: 84/76/91, IMDb: 9.4, #3 all-time) - ok wtf, it was #83 or so all-time on Friday afternoon...lmao.

Theater was basically silent (not texting/chatting) once it started, apart from gasps/"holyshit".

Finally got around to seeing avatar. Slept through last 40 minutes. Predictable and boring.

The remastered Gladiator blu ray is awesome. I feel sorry for anyone who shelled out for the "sapphire" release.

Inception - 10/10 - Really a great movie. To me, this is a movie that makes going to the movies great. Easily the best movie I've seen this year and probably the best movie I've seen in years.

Shutter Island - 8/10 - I really enjoyed the movie but called it in the first 5 mins of it starting. I still really enjoyed it though and watched it with the assumption that I was possibly wrong, but wasn't.

It's one of those movies my wife and I kept bringing up and taking about scenes from it.

Inception - 9/10, highly recommend. I usually only watch movies once and be done with it but will watch this movie again for sure.

Last Airbender - 4/10, the toons are better than this crap.

Predators - 6/10, not bad but not good, trying too hard to be like the first one (dialog/scenes/etc.).

Mongol - 7/10. Great looking but seemingly empty.

Departed - 9/10. Saw it once when it came out. Saw it again, a couple of days ago. It just cements the fact that this is so much better than Internal Affairs. One nagging thing was Nicholson being a little over the top during one particular scene.

Just got back from Inception. I'll review it while its fresh in my mind.

Inception: 9/10
Very cool movie. It isn't the best movie I've ever seen, like some may say, but it is easily one of the best, if not the best, of its genre. The idea was cool and it was executed very well. Christopher Nolan knows what hes doing, if that wasn't already clear. The movie was directed and shot very well, it was amazing to watch.

The casting was great also. Everyone in the cast was very enjoyable to watch. Even Ellen Page who I am not a big fan of was really good. Joseph Gordon Levitt, as details magazine claims on their latest cover, has come of age. He was very good in this role. You know Ken Watanabe was awesome. Tom Hardy as Eames, damn I wish I was a smooth European dude. Dileep Rao as the chemist Yusuf was good. He seems to always play the same guy though. Cillian Murphy was good. And how can you not like looking at Marion Cotillard. Leo was Leo, you know what you're gonna get with him.

Borderline Spoilers, beware
I thought the movie was pretty clear. I was happy that there weren't any crazy twists or cheap game changers. The movie was straight forward from what I saw. The fight scene with Joseph Gordon Levitt with the black guy in the hotel while the van was falling
might have been the coolest thing I've ever seen in film. Its the only time I can remember being in complete awe with goosebumps, through the entire scene. WOW it was awesome.

To conclude, this is a must see movie. It is very good, and if you are a fan of action movies or thrillers or sci fi, you should enjoy it, a lot. Is it the best movie ever? lulz, no...best movie of the year? maybe. Again, the genre isn't one that can normally compare to "great" or classic films. It excels in its category though

Inception - 8/10 - Highly entertaining, but I felt it was stretched thin at points. DiCaprio was passable, but not at his best. The concept, pacing, and visual effects were all awesome. I'll have to see it again.

Inception - 9/10: It's weird, I saw this early morning Saturday and I haven't posted about it yet because I wanted to digest the film a bit first. I also decided I wanted to watch Memento again (biggest question I took away from the re-watch was: what the hell happened to Guy Pearce?), which I did yesterday, just to sort of see the progression of Nolan I guess.

Anyway, Inception, like Memento, is a film that has you a little confused, a little lost at the beginning, but once you get past the first 20 minutes or so, it has you and you know you're in for an incredible ride. It makes you work to keep up with everything that is going on, but it's never so convoluted as to be frustrating. There is really very little to dislike about this film; I think maybe the snow chase scene was a bit much for me and a couple of spots of exposition were a tad long, but they are pretty minor quibbles as I was enraptured by the film for the duration. I even audibly wowed at some of the sequences. The cast was great, with Hardy (I have to see Bronson) and Levitt being the strongest points and Page being the weakest (she was fine, but compared to the rest, she could not hold a candle) and Leo, as slayer said, being Leo (he was better in Shutter Island).

It's great to see an intelligent blockbuster out there and I can only hope it does well. I'll be seeing this one again later this week for sure.

Winter's Bone - 9/10
: What a great film; a pretty simple story with a simple setting in the hills of Missouri, but with a lot of depth. Jennifer Lawrence was definitely a standout here, but I also thought John Hawkes was amazing, as were the interactions between the two of them. Some very tense scenes and some touching ones; overall an excellent film and very gripping. Kind of reminded me of Frozen River a bit, but I think this is definitely the better film.

Mr. Nobody

"Nemo Nobody leads an ordinary existence at his wife's side, Elise, and their 3 children until the day when reality skids and he wakes up as an old man in the year 2092. At 120, Mr. Nobody is both the oldest man in the world and the last mortal of a new mankind where nobody dies anymore. But that doesn't seem to interest or bother him very much. The only questions that preoccupy him in the present is whether he lived the right life for himself, loved the woman whom he was supposed to love, and had the children whom he was meant to have... now his purpose is to find the right answer."

Oddly strange and asks the question I wondered about all the time. Really interesting and confusing at the same time though. Makes you think a lot. A lot of people here won't get it.

wow KT, hardy was the guy in bronson? Last night when I was watching inception I thought he might have been, but he just looked nothing like he did in bronson so I said to myself, no way. damn, that guy is REALLY good.

KT, where do you rank inception against other similar movies?
