well, i dont personally like it, but i believe that it was a show that was good for people that were into it, back when the show was on. I don't see any value in it today.
If you do, i'm happy to hear about it.

If Red Dwarf was made today, especially with the cast it had in S3 onwards, it would be vilified as woke, pandering nonsense yet back then nobody cared because the culture war flames had not been stoked yet. Heck one of the characters has a sex change going from S2 to S3 and nothing at all is said about it, it just happens and the characters get on with it without any issues whatsoever.

It is only in hindsight that I even look at that as when watching it at the time I just thought it was a funny comedy about some people trapped in a situation with a sci-fi bent.

I have seen Blackadder (bar season 1) and am a big fan. Not seen Yes Minister / Yes Prime Minister aside from a few clips. Probably something I should change though as I have heard it is excellent (and very relevant going by the scenes I have seen).

I prefer RD over Blackadder but I find both very good.

As for modern relevance, S2E6 Parallel Universe lampoons pick up culture pretty well and shows just how creepy it can be. It also lampoons the double standards re sex by doing a role reversal.

Episodes Justice and Inquistor are interesting thought experiments as well and the scene where Kryten is defending Rimmer in Justice is funny.

It can also be daft at times which is fine, it is a comedy and I enjoy the variety.

I am now also thinking about stuff like Camille or DNA which are also interesting episodes.

i watched A Few Good Men - A Few Good Men (1992) - Reference View - IMDb

now, i had caught this on tv, dubbed, and obviously the constant videos YOU CANT HANDLE DE TRUTH on youtube, but had not really watched the film in full yet.

And, it was good. Very 1980s in cinematography (not that it's a bad thing), good dialogue, good acting. I'm shocked that Demi Moore isn't a love interest in this script.

Note, Nicholson has 3 scenes in the film, 1. the initial Code Red meeting, 2. the officers lunch w/ Cruise, and 3. the final courtroom scene.
The first scene is hammy and lacks any subtlety, and the second isn't great at all, but at least Cruise knows his job. Scene 3 works entirely on the quality of the dialogue.
7.8/10 - i agree with IMDb

We continued shitty movie week with Conan the Barbarian. Wife asked, "Is this movie just sex and fighting?" I explained to her the concept of low fantasy and that Conan sure as hell wasn't Tolkien.

see, this is one thing that i honestly never understood.
young children are fully comfortable with nudity, to the point where they dont even think "that chick/dude is nakkid!".
It's teens and adults who instead see it as sexual. If you are pre-pubescent, you biologically have no fucking idea what sex is. If you see two people kissing, your brain thinks EEEWWWWWWW, SALIVA !

on a side note, i dont see why teens should be banned from seeing horror-film boobies - i would argue that boobies exist almost exclusively for the benefit of 14-17yos.

I watched Andor EP 2-4 and i thought that it was, okay, but i praise it for actually moving the fucking plot along. There's SO many shows that have EP1 "check out this cool premise we thought" and EP2 - infinity is all the fucking same, nothing happens until the last half of the last espisode.
Examples, uh, idk, The Dome.

It's to protect the dumb teens. Those ones may want to "feel" boobies so they might do that with the neighbor's teenage daughter and while they are feeling the boobies, they might get aroused enough to impregnate her. It's fine if they go through a mandatory sex-ed seminar showing them all the horrors of accidental impregnation before being exposed to cinematic boobies.

The reason I say that is because they might be exposed to cinematic boobies way before coming across porn. My personal experience that left me scarred for life: I think I saw my first set of boobies on TV watching a VHS tape of King Kong around age 8 or 9 (some really old one where a guy tears the dress of her lover and exposes an astounding set of knockers. And then King Kong sees them through the window and they go bye bye). For YEARS afterwards, I was confused. Confused as to why those boobies had such a profound effect on my mind. I kept seeing them over and over. It wasn't until age 14 (or even 15), that I made the connection between sex and babies. My brain was kept from working on more productive things because of those damn boobies!

Metal Lords 6.5/10

I had it sitting my Netflix watchlist for a long time, and figured it wouldn't be good so I kind of just left it there in case nothing else was on.

I gotta say, it was over the top in a lot of ways, but it was pretty good and entertaining. Plus, it just might have had the best movie soundtrack since The Crow in 1994. Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Anthrax, Pantera, Metallica, and Guns N' Roses (even though they aren't anywhere near considered "metal").

I gotta say of all the bands that were on their "must learn to be metal" list, Tool and Slayer were listed but they must not have gotten permission from the labels to play any of their songs. At least they were mentioned I guess, although I would have loved to listen something like Forty Six & 2 and Raining Blood in the movie.

I have this on dvd and was prewatching it recently to see if it was appropriate for my 13 year old. I loved this as a kid, but this has not aged well. He hasnt watched it yet.

Well what do you know. I think the Crow (1994) has one of the best sound tacks of all time as well, It and Heavy Metal (1981) are the only two movie soundtracks I have on my playlists. And I agree with you about Metal Lords having a rocking soundtrack, only the songs in it are all the popular ones, basically being the top songs from each band. I watched it a few months ago and went into it thinking it would be terrible, and overall kind of liked it.

As for GnR, I think they would be considered on the line between heavy metal and hair metal, just like Iron Maiden was on the line between heavy metal and prog rock.
