Wow. Thanks, bud. I guess now I'm better off not seeing it since you ruined the surprise?

Chris Evans is second rate? :D

Tim Allen can't have anything to do with this because Tim voiced the "toy" Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story universe whereas this is the backstory of an imaginary Buzz Lightyear in a universe far, far away. The two characters are not one and the same. Put another way, this is the "real" Buzz Lightyear whereas the Toy Story one is a fake toy with many, many other clones like him available in toy stores around the country. The Buzz of the movie "Lightyear" is just one. No clones.

Who the "F" is Chris Evans? <Checks google> Oh, some stupid woke actor. BTW he voice his own Captain American doll. https://www.cinemablend.com/news/16...usly-prank-people-with-a-captain-america-doll

Just binging stranger things for the first time. About to get to the last episode.

I'm really having fun with this show. I thought it was mostly about horror which I'm not into, but it's not at all. I grew up in the '80s so it's very nostalgic, I like the sci-fi fantasy influences, I like the characters, the girl that plays 11 is amazing, I like the kids, it's just really engaging me.

My buddy says season 2 is a little bit of a setback but still good but then season 3 is his favorite, and he's waiting to watch season 4 once it's out.

This is a friend who we enjoy a lot of the same things so I'm feeling positive.

Going to watch the next episode of the Boys at midnight. Excited.
OMG!! My wife and I had stopped watching this after season two. I was having trouble falling asleep and figured I watch some episodes. For this week's episode, I assume that there was a pornography warning when the episode started, I think I was doomscrolling memes at the time. Then that 'scene' came up and was so disgusting! I fast forwarded to the fight at the end, but don't know what else happened. Done with the 'Boyz' for good. Too bad, the political slams, exposition of corporate greed, showing how bad it would be if real people actually had superpowers, along with some reasonable 'shock value' pieces was fun - up to a point.

i put myself through Jim Jaramush's The Dead Don't Die - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8695030/reference/

it was bad.

Bill Murray and Adam Driver are two policemen in a rural country. Small community n' all that.
Zombies come out and eat them.
Tilda Swinton is a katana-wielding, scottish-speaking alien.

I swear i wish there was more to tell. Once decent scene with Adam Driver holding the decapitated head of Selena Gomez, that's about it.

5/10 - slow, boring, without any interesting content.

If you ignore the disgusting stuff in this season, it's still pretty good. Homelander almost died in Ep6. I had seen Jensen Ackles before in Supernatural but now he seems totally different. Like a really, really tough mofo. No idea how that transition happened. Even his voice is deeper.

i watched The Matrix 4 - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10838180/reference/

what the fuck was that?

I am completely confused by the plot. I got as far as scene 1, with the new agent smith being a rogue AI, but everything else made no sense. I have no idea what any of the motivations of the various characters are, what goal are they trying to accomplish, who the villain is and why does it want to stop the hero, and there was one scene, where the line delivery was so bad, i had to turn on subtitles. I had to turn on subtitles in an ENGLISH-SPEAKING MOVIE.

Ok so; a bunch of hackers similar to the crew of the nebuchdenezzar from the first film, are looking into a matrix module, think, like a private server. They see an alternate version of the initial confrontation between Trinity and the agents. A new character is introduced which is Morpheus, but not the OG Morpheus, but rather a mix of Morpheus and Agent Smith.
With the help of this benevolent AI, they rescue Neo, who is currently plugged in to the matrix and unaware of his real, "Neo" life.

spoiler - Neo & Trinity died in matrix 3, but the villain of this film, Neil Patrick Harris as The New Architect, rebuilt them, as you would clone a human.

So Neo is freed, and we are given a bit of world building. At the end of matrix 3, the contact between Neo and The Machines had a changing effect on The Machines, which we assume it means they are now not quite so evil. However, the architect is still a dickhead and the matrix is still used as a source of energy. Actually, they now have The New And Improved Matrix.

Neo obviously wants to find Trinity. He goes inside the matrix but meets the architect who tells him noooo, you can't find Trinity, because the very reason why the matrix(es) before all would break at some point, is because Neo and Trinity meet - if they never meet, the matrix runs undisturbed.

So there is a bit of antagonising until SMITH, yes, AGENT SMITH (but not played by Hugo Weaving) beats the shit out of the architect. Neo and Trinity use this chance to connect and they then recover their superpowers and the film ends.

...

i suppose this isn't the worst film i've ever seen (not even counting The Prequels), but it was a pointless film that, at best, rehashes all the good stuff from Matrix 1, and only contributes one additional tidbit of lore (the Neo-Trinity meeting being the source of the disruption in the matrix) which could well have been just chucked into a 10-minute YouTube short.

........

notable that, Keanu Reeves is by no means a good actor, but the scenes between him and Carrie-Ann Moss are visibly better than anything the other "actors" can do. NPH is good but his character sucks balls. the rest is just garbage.

5.5/10 - pointless

quick one
Warrior - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1291584/reference/

liked it for the very well choreographed fight scenes.

Tom Hardy is one of two brothers avoiding an ex-alcoholic father. He and the other brother both find themselves at the same time without money, and they enter into a MMA championship. They are both amazing and they rekk everyone else. The father tries to reconnect with them but they hate him. They beat the shit out of each other and the film ends.

6.5/10 - decent fighting moves

and another
The Cook The Thief The Wife & Her Lover - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097108/reference/

probably someone's favourite movie, but you gotta stomach 90 minutes of Michael Gambon monologuing (he's practically the only character with dialogues) as a crass, rude london gangster, briefly interspersed with nudity provided by the generous dame Helen Mirren. Surreal sets and a lot of visual detail going, but absolutely.nothing.else.

5/10 - how about a fucking script?

My rating is 3/10, for giving the Wachowski full creative control and letting her destroy any and all chance of any future Matrix sequels. A student fresh out of film school could have made a better movie.

AFAIK the reason for Matrix 4's existence is in the film: She didn't want to do it, the studio said if you don't then we'll get someone else to do it, so she chose the option that retained her creative control over the franchise rather than let it be turned into yet another sequel generator.

I quite liked it partly because it made me realise why the trilogy went horribly wrong. The flaws are in the first movie (mainly the prophecies) and they spiralled further out of control in the other two. IMO there's a whole lot of her in this film and I found its themes of feeling in control of one's life and one's goals and ageing quite appealing.

At Eternity's Gate (2018)

I've been trying to get out of my comfort zone with movies (for a while I felt that my own life is screwed up enough not to want to add sadness to it), and while I liked the trailer I was sure this was going to be a sad movie. It is, but if you don't mind a bit of melancholy and you want to experience the movie equivalent of hearing the wind in the trees for a bit, you might want to give this a try. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if the Dr Who episode 'Vincent and the Doctor' served as part of my attraction to this film.

I think I'll watch it again because I didn't fully understand a couple of elements in it on the first sitting (I have a rule that when I'm doing the ironing, I avoid films I haven't seen before, and I broke that rule for this film).

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness 7/10

Great graphics and sfx.
fun seeing the diff versions of Dr Strange but The storyline was meh.
Agree. Agree. Agree.

Weird direction Disney is going with regards to the strength of female superheroes. The scene with the showdown between the Scarlett Witch and the superheroes: funny how the men went first and the two left standing were women. Did the Marvel Universe always have women stronger than men or is this a recent innovation due to the ongoing women empowerment movement? OR is this Kathleen Kennedy's doing?
