I bought the Rambo collection and the Rambo 2008 movie. Just got done watching the 2008 movie. Was pretty good I guess. Probably one of the bloodiest movies I've seen since Saving Private Ryan.

Watched Heartstone (Hjartasteinn) a few nights ago in the theater. Wonderful film! Comes out on demand on Oct. 10th! Can't wait to buy it and watch it again!

Watched the HBO documentary Spielberg was very good, 9 /10. I didn't realize that other than George Lucas, Martin Scorsese, Brian De Palma, Coppola in the early days would hang around with each other.

Trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPDtHzx-q6M

Watched as well. Amazing the amount of stuff that guy has created. Was moving to hear how much he was moved making Schindler's List.

i am a man of culture and therefore i watched Blade, Blade 2, and Blade 3..nity.

well .. Blade is actually a good film. it's easy to dismiss it, because there's vampires, and a kungfu black guy with a sword. But Wesley Snipes actually gives some depth to the film; when he says "you are my friend, but if you get bitten, i will kill you" and you know he means it, and the characters are portrayed as if there is a real chance they can die.
And then Blade 2 completely the-opposite-of, and Blade 3 even worse. In blade 3 they went all Marvel Comics on the production and my god, it's bad. campy. overproduced. Blade isn't supposed to be about a badass, it's supposed to be grim and tragic.

Blade: 7/10
Blade 2: 5/10
Blade 3nity: 4/10

IT (2017): -googleplex/10

Maybe enough to scare a 4 year old. But the 'scary' special effects are so over the top and so ineffective that even the jumpscares couldn't make me blink (although someone who has not read the book nor seen the original might be startled by some of those). They should never have remade this movie, the original is much better.

triple threat:

1. 6 Days - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4703048/reference

almost a docu-drama, on Operation Nimrod, the six day siege of the Iranian embassy in London in 1980 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_Embassy_siege
Mark Strong (bald guy from Kingsmen) plays the same role he always does, here as detective inspector guy-who-negotiates-with-terrorists, and that's basically it.
It's a nice recreation, but not an interesting film.
6/10

2. Baby Driver - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3890160/reference

eh, so basically there's that awesome chase scene that makes up 90% of the trailer, and 10% of the film. there's another one not quite as cool, and then there's your classic plot about criminals who can't stop themselves from messing up a perfectly good plan. Also Baby (the protagonist, a damp rag named Ansel Elgort) finds a chick he likes.
Kevin Spacey got fat and he wasn't horrible but it's about 5 minutes of him and he sticks out like a sore thumb. Bigger role for Jamie Foxx who, as always, can't act. Not much acting to be done anyway give the most one-dimensional characters ever, so much so that they don't even have last names.
Director Edgar Wright (the guy who directed Hot Fuzz, a film i love) clearly was trying to do his version of Tarantino/Rodrigues but he doesn't have the imagination, or the skill.
6/10

3. The Little Hours - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5666304/reference

Ugh .. didn't realize what this was until it was too late. Kate Micucci, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, and another whooole bunch of TV actors that do not transition well into the big screen. It's the same comedy (so to speak) that you see on Parks & Recreation), except the characters aren't funny, and there's not time for them to grow on you. Aubrey Plaza looks amazing in everything )and i suspect she probably looks amazing in nothing, too) but be forewarned, there is a horrifying scene with F.F.N. by Kate Micucci.
I'm not sure if there's even a plot.
4/10, and -1 for having forever burned into my eyes the naked shape of that poor excuse of a woman, 3/10

watched all the short films on Oat Stuidios. Neil Blomkamp is an awesome film maker.

Yeah he seems to have better focus with these shorts. Maybe next time he does a full length movie he can bring us something like District 9 again.

Blade Runner 2049 - 8.5/10

I thought this was quite good. It's a fairly dark movie much like the original both visually and thematically. I didn't notice a lot of plot holes but given that's SOP for most films I'm sort of desensitized to that sort of thing anyway.

There are a couple of surprises that I think will catch most viewers off guard and those are presented well. There is some, what I would call gratuitous violence but you can argue that in most cases it gives you insight into the characters personality and motivation.

If you liked the original I think you'll like this too. Personally I liked the original better but not by a lot.

War For the Planet of the Apes 8/10 - This may be my new favorite trilogy. This isn't an action movie, it's a deep, dark, somber movie. The first 2 were an unexpected surprise of how good they were, and I didn't think they could do it again, but they did.

the ending on how a certain ape died was stupid.
but everything else was good, especially the tie in to the 1960's Charles Heston Planet of the Apes movie series.

I stumbled across some animated gifs of what is the show "Vice Principals" on HBO and after seeing them, I gotta at least check out this show, LOL.

Has anyone else seen it? I think there's two seasons of it (so far anyway). It looks hilarious.

Blade Runner 2049 - 8/10 for the film as a whole, 11/10 for the visual feel. A worthy successor to the original.

To live in an era where we have Deakins and Lubezki doing cinematography is simply a joy beyond description.

Southland Tales 8/10

From the director of Donnie Darko

Another movie I somehow missed and never even heard about until a coworker saw it on Showtime and said I would like it. And I do, I love quirky movies and this is right up there. Large cast of known actors including the Rock whom I am not the biggest fan of but he does a good job in the movie. Stippler played a serious role in the movie as well and does a good job. Other cast members include Seann William Scott, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mandy Moore, and Justin Timberlake. You can catch it on on-demands on showtime for a free 2 day yearly pass on Verizon not sure about others.

Here is the description from IMDB.

During a three day heat wave just before a huge 4th of July celebration, an action star stricken with amnesia meets up with a porn star who is developing her own reality TV project, and a policeman who holds the key to a vast conspiracy.

Explanation of movie lol

Speaking of Olivia Colman, I just watched The Night Manger. It had Olivia Colman, Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston in it. Its based on a John Le Carre
novel. It's a 6 part mini series on Amazon Prime. Hiddleston in an ex-British soldier/The Night Manger recruited by MI-6, Olivia Colman, to try to take down an arms dealer, no other than Hugh Laurie. I gave it an 8.5/10
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1399664/?ref_=ttfc_fc_tt

Oh right, I remember hearing about that one. Will definitely check that out, thanks E.

Yeah, that was a nice easy going documentary that I learned from and agree with your score.

Mindhunter on Netflix: 8.5/10

Give it more than one episode and it starts to be very good.

I'm debating picking this up on bluray. I have the first 2 and they have some really great extras on them. I am assuming the 3rd one will too and will be pretty damn good. The first 2 were great.
