I enjoyed it, but I thought the action set pieces were rather dull, and the action scenes overall were very brief. I've been hearing people say that this is the best Bond film, I can confidently say that those people are idiots.

I tried to watch an hour of this during the afternoon, but couldn't get into it. Not really a review, more like questions.

Is Anna Kendrick a vampire, and does she get much screen time? I saw her graduation speech scene only. She's the only reason I'd try to watch this again. So... there's some sort of vampire war?

The Watch, 4/10. Not really worth finishing, so many lost opportunities.
Oh, and the lats twilight (part 1 of two of the last book?) I give 2/10. I found it absolutely one of the most boring movies I've ever watched and I mean it. It was so fvcking emasculating to watch basically the first 45 minutes be about a wedding. I did not want to keep watching.

Skyfall 7/10: Mediocre writing, bad plot holes, & over the top. I really miss Casino Royale. It's so sad Craig can't pull off another decent Bond after CR.
Brave 6.5/10: Pixar was pulling out masterpieces left and right. I even loved Cars. But with Cars 2 & Brave, are they even trying? I knew this film was half-assed the moment its awkward opening song started. I fell asleep half way and don't really want to go back.
Amazing Spiderman 7/10: Nothing special. Some of the web slinging parts were beautiful. GF and I both gasped, "We should've seen this in the theaters in 3D."
Safety Not Guaranteed: 8/10: The best of the bunch this weekend. It's based on the famous ad asking someone to time travel with him and 'safety not guaranteed'. Three journalists track down the person to see if he's really nuts or he's kidding around. Lots of human drama and character development of all 4 happens. Great quirky movie.

Skyfall - 7/10: For a long time, I've been unable to understand the answer to this simple question: Why don't I like the Daniel Craig Bond films? I finally realize why the other night... they lost their way. That might raise a bit of ire, but I'll try and explain what I pick up on in regard to movie psychology. Action movies require us to be able to somehow interject ourselves into the movie. We want to be captivated by the plot. This can be done by letting the viewer become emotionally attached to the main character, which is usually done through establishing an emotional bond by revealing enough about the character. It's also possible to do this through the main character's actions and overall presentation. You can also eschew the main character completely and draw people in through the plot. I think this method is probably the hardest as using the plot as a main factor tends to open up cynicism with plot holes, odd twists, etc.
So, what's the point of going into all of that mumbo-jumbo? I didn't really pick up on any of it in Skyfall. It felt like a typical action movie with a main character that liked to wear suits. Now, that latter part is kind of interesting, because that is what Bond is all about, right? Sort of. At least for me, Bond has always come across as the calm but suave operative with a strong dedication to his job. The Craig movies have the latter, but I've never felt any of the other Bond attributes from his roles.
Essentially, while these movies are decent action movies -- although, some of the baddies are rather lame -- they just don't feel like Bond movies to me. My overall rating of Skyfall was... "at least it's better than Quantum of Solace."

The Crow - 9/10 - Awesome movie all around. I never realized how well done it was in terms of stylization.

I knew there was a second Crow, but I didn't realize that they made another one after that. Although, I agree with you; the Crow is definitely a fun movie to watch! I don't know if I feel as "confident" in giving it a 9/10, but I can't really explain why. I might need to watch it again to get into the mind of Eric Draven!

They got the movie-making right but the story-telling was all wrong.
The crash and the maneuver had plenty of tension and emotion but when the movie is over you realize that it isn't about that and it could have been any airline crash/incident without this maneuver that set the same events in motion. It's just in there because of the Hudson River incident.
The movie seems to be more than product placement for Alcoholics Anonymous, almost as if it was made by them as "AA the Movie" except that there's a scene where cocaine saves the day and they never act like it was part of the problem. That's another issue: conflicting messages.
The main character doesn't seem believable. No matter how long he got away with his bad habits by lying, holding alcohol in the car and being seen with it would have ended everything and I'm skeptical that he could do things like that with such regularity and never even be seen by the media or a law enforcement officer or anything.
The crash doesn't really make sense. Their explanation of what caused it explains what caused them to use control of one flap and enter into a dive but it doesn't seem to explain why they lost ALL control and had to go through a bunch of stuff I don't understand to get some semblance of control back. Also, why are some of the controls they needed out of reach for the pilots? Is that an accurate representation of the cockpit?
For him to act surprised that all this would happen after a crash is also strange. He should have been wondering how he could behave that way in such an industry and get away with it for years when his coworkers could clearly tell. What did he think would happen when an incident out of his control happened? Not very realistic in that sense.
Edit: Fixed a few things. Also, I wanted to point out that there seem to be a couple callbacks to John Goodman and Denzel Washington's "Fallen" and Goodman's "The Big Lebowski." The soundtrack is right out of "Fallen" and hearing Goodman rant about "amateurs" got a chuckle out of me ("Forget about the fuckin' toe!").

Crow 3 has Kirsten Dunst...
Crow 1 is a work of art. Crow 2 is watchable. The rest are crud.
The Other Guys - 8.5/10 - "Gator needs his scat, bitch!". Didn't think I'd like this with Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell. I was wrong - I loved it. Serious enough and stupid enough at the same time. Can't believe they got The Rock and Samuel L. Jackson to play such a small, but hillarious role.

The Amazing Spider-man 3D - 6/10
It just wasnt that good. Some things they got right, like Peter Parker building his webslingers. Actually, I think thats it. I didnt like Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. The character design for the lizard was pretty bad. And I hate how Peter Parker doesnt protect his identity. Story was pieced together from a couple of different origin stories, and it didnt feel cohesive. 3D wasnt anything special, so if you were thinking about buying that version I'd skip it and just get the blu-ray. Its probably time Sony gave the rights back to Marvel Studios so it can be done right. It wasnt as bad as Ghostrider 2, but probably the worst Spider-man movie to date.

In terms of movies like it, it is a standout. Thus the 9/10. I'd put it right up there with the best of ll comic book based movies. Everything about the movie is awesome. The cityscapes were cool as hell and I think they must have been scale model of a fictional city. Today it would be CGI and quite frankly, the models look way better than anything Hollywood would do today (notice i say would do, not could do).
Quite frankly, Brandon Lee nailed this movie. He was awesome in it. And the villain was equally well played.

Great premise (not your average vampire movie)...that you really find out most of the way through. The overly artsy filming, all black and white, with the angles, and weird processing, really ruins it, though. They tried to make a really 'cool' movie, more so than tell a story well--and the story would have made for an outstanding movie, given different treatment.
