Prey. Around 6 out of 10 because of problems with the story. Good effort, though.

Engineering Catastrophes - Season 6, Science Channel

I can only give this an 8.5 but if your work involves heavy equipment, you'll probably want to watch this.

Space Battleship Yamato
It's better than I expected. It can stand alone as a space movie if you never watched Star Blazers. It has a 80s teen flick vibe and some straight ripoffs from Star Wars which is only fair as Lucas ripped some stuff from Star Blazers. There are a few Star Blazer shout outs in it as well. 7/10

Uchu Senkan Yamato first aired in 1974. Star Wars was released in 1977.

Oh no! Lucas is my hero. How could you ruin him for me??? Now I have to watch Star Blazers :(

It is quite well known that he was heavily influenced by Kurosawa when creating Star Wars. Not sure how much influence he had from Yamato as I haven't watched it since I was a kid. The Hidden Fortress is the most obvious influence.

FWIW Hbo Max just added even more movies they are dumping at the end of the month. Last week they got rid of WestWorld which ticked me off because I only watched the first two seasons. On the Nvidia Shield you can find these movies and shows leaving under "browse" - "last chance".

Watched Major League for the first time in a long time. My only comments will be that during the opening sequence it only took about four notes and one lyric for me to peg it as Randy Newman. Major League was released in 1989 which means Randy Newman had been doing movie music for over 30 years and all of his songs still sound exactly the same.

Rewatched Clash of the Titans, 1981. Still a good movie but no one was going for an Oscar other than the claymation artist. I was surprised by the nudity. Apparently, the CED disc we had was a censored version. 7/10

I thought Prospero's Books was considered the highest nudity per reel of any non-porn movie and that movie is pretty good.

Everything in Top Gun Maverick either (1) references the first movie, (2) strokes Cruise's ego, or (3) both. Still, fun movie and a nice experience on the big screen.

The first one?
but of course.
I was very resisiting of anything that was mainstream media back then, so if EVERYONE was watching it, i wasn't. The same applies to .. uh .. everything else? Never watched 90210, XFiles, Lost, GOT, dude if i didnt happen to catch an episode casually, i would have probably not watched The Simpsons either.

Why would you wanna not enjoy Scully and Mulder's chemistry?

LOST first few seasons are pretty good. The villain is amazingly evil and diabolical (I rarely see psychopaths done so well). Plus, the LOST chicks are lovely to watch.

Heroes first season is also great.

But maybe you won't enjoy them coz you said somewhere in this thread that your feelings are dead.

I think Caligula was financed by the trashy owner of Penthouse magazine. It was his pet project.

Yeah, so it's horrible.

The Brothers Grimm
How does one f’ up such a straight forward movie concept? I know, add the French! It’s like they had two script writers who couldn’t agree on anything. The main story was a slam dunk with hundreds of fairy tales to tap, the script should have written itself. When the movie stuck to the plot, it was pretty good and the visuals were great. 5/10.
