Ok, I think I'm done with Metro 2033. No idea where I am going, spending half my play time reloading, dying constantly. Good times. :rolleyes:

I was going to rate Metro 2033 a 7, but I will have to give it a 8 since it is pissing KeithTalent off ;) .

Really though 8/10. Really solid and well put together game that puts you in such an imaginative and well presented atmosphere . Nothing ground breaking though, and all though well balanced, the AI was a little dumbed down for the occasion.

Crysis 3 8/10 : Absolutely beautiful game and game play was what I was expecting in terms of a shoot'em up with sci-fi tech. The only thing is Crysis 3 pounds home some convoluted story of Alpha-seith. The main character cant stop talking about it and it sounds like some weird skitzo all the way through the game. Another solid game, though unlike Metro, this game had a little more responsive AI though they all react the same way like they're hived mind which gets boring.

FTL 9/10:

I did not expect to play it for long, considering its cheap-looking graphics and the matching price, but yet I did (despite having other games from the Steam sale). Winning a playthrough is a damn near impossibility and yet I keep coming back at it. The possibilities of different weapons/crew/augments and encounters vary so much I keep trying in the hope of scoring a victory (p.s. this reads so much like a gambler's addiction...maye it's not so dissimilar after all).

It sounds like this game was released into the public domain and there is an english patch. Is there an officlal site to download it (free of virus) ?

yeah there is.. however good luck navigating though the japanese mime. :D
its worse then youtube... one moment u think ur on the right track.. next moment... BAM... ur wondering how u ended up in the weird section.

the game is not intended to export... hence no ESRB.

The version i ended up playing was the fuwanovel fansub'd version.
Its virus Free.

if u can get past the retro type graphics... story and content wise... rance series will consume a lot of time... cuz its like pokemon with princess... gotta catch them all.

Blah, it was very irritating and I've barely made it anywhere. Everything looks the same and I'm looking through that stupid gas mask all the time, so I lose sight of what I am looking for/at. Then I either fall in the radioactive water and/or get attacked by the flying creatures and down I go. Not. Fun. At. All.

DayZ: 0/10. Frustrating. Buggy. Everything kills you. I will continue to play this exclusively as I have for the past year. I do not know why.

I'm surprised at this. I remember Metro 2033 being so linear....which is something that I like.

Yea. I remember metro 2033 being rather simple and straight forward. I think I died a couple of times - well there was one spot I died a bit - where there is a shoot out on the tracks and some snipper I oculdn't see kept plugging me but it wasn't the end of the world. The second play through when I knew what to expect I don't think i died at all. Kind of a well done but sadly short game. I should probably try metro-light - is that like a light version of metro 2033 :) Well I hear it is shorter if not ilghter.

Maybe I'm just terrible or the beers at dinner had really impacted me. I guess I will give it another shot after I bump the gamma a little.

Dark souls 9/10 - **REMOVED**amazing game. My only problem with it was how terrible the port is but with a controller and dsfix the game is amazing

Deus ex:HR 10/10 - I loved the combat story and music, I could not stop playing this game.

Alan Wake 9/10 - Story and atmosphere were awesome. The combat got kind of repetitive but it was an excellent game

No cursing in PCG.

Defender's Quest ( http://www.defendersquest.com/ )

It's an incredibly stupid story wrapped around a tower defense game with RPG elements of levels, skill-trees, weapon and armor upgrades. The "casual" level is too easy, but starting each stage at hard or extreme made for a fun game. I finished it after played a couple hours a day for the last 3-4 days, so it's not terribly long, but that is fine given the price.

If you like tower defense games, you might enjoy it. However, if you fail to skip the storyline between areas you might want to kill yourself.

Recently played:

Pokemon FireRed: 9.5/10 - I'm revisiting this game (this time on my DS on a GBA emulator) and it's amazing! Everything is fun and addicting (logged 30+ hours over a few days and still haven't beaten the Elite 4 - I know I like to take my time...). Would give it a 10 but I rage quit because a Chansey screwed my whole team.

Thanks for reminding me about this game. I've heard about the series, but never got around to dl-ing it. I'm playing it right now, and it's really fun.

My main pet peeve has to be how little attention was placed on unit progression. I know it's not a rpg game, but it would have been nice if there was more balance placed in empowering your units.

It just seems that too much attention was placed on affection, with leveling being an afterthought. It would have been nice to balance the importance of the two. Maybe tie basic skill acquirement with levels, but restrict the more powerful ones to those of higher affection. Or tie in commander levels with max army size?

And dungeon/commander fights are pretty annoying. It would be nice if you could choose who to switch in, or at the very least 'tier' the order of commanders that are switched in.

8/10: Borderlands 2; Playing it now - it is really quite enjoyable (single player - non co-op). Lots of content - hasn't gotten old (though I'm sure it will eventually). Currently character is siren which is a bit fragile (glass something or other). Love to snipe :)

Not 100% a fan of how they handle distant objects (rendering) but for the amount of enjoyable content it is really a good value.

Bioshock Infinite: 8/10 - Fun game, though nothing spectacular or original. Creative settings and interesting story if you take it with a grain of salt.

Crysis 3: 7.5/10 - In my opinion the weakest of the series. The story is completely shoe-horned into the game and the characters speak with some very poorly-written dialogues. The graphics are amazing, but the campaign is super short. I found myself thinking that Crysis's 2 had a much better package(story, graphics, gameplay, etc) compared to Crysis 3.

XCom:Enemy Unknown 7/10.

This score really should be higher. Most of the gameplay is rock solid imo. I've started three different games and haven't actually completed any if them, so I may revise it upwards a bit.

I've gotten progressively better at the game, but I'm still deducting a point for the irritating randomness of encounters. I almost feel like Xcom had triggers for "balance" purposes that up the aliens accuracy and damage if you haven't lost enough soldiers over the course of the game. It can be "throw your mouse" frustrating.

Minecraft FTB -> 10/10
OpenTTD -------> 10/10
EU3 ----------->9.5/10
Simutrans -----> 9/10
ROTT remake ---> 8/10
Skyrim --------> 8/10
Endless Space -> 7/10
Torchlight 2 --> 7/10
Duke 4ever ----> 2/10

Only "new" game I've played recently has been ROTT Remake. It's quite excellent. Best FPS for me since probably HL2.

Papers Please - 7/10

Interesting game, I do wish the story was more involved. I liked it for the most part but it starts getting real frustrating. Obviously the game will start turning into a grind as it goes on and you can't spend too much time on each immigrant for money reasons. Just a quick list of what needs to be checked in the later parts:

All documents & passport are present, seals are not fake, id number matches, names match, expiration dates are valid, polio vaccine is up to date, if finger prints are needed they match and name(s) match, photo matches immigrant, weight & height are correct, issuing city is correct, description of person matches (glasses, overweight, small head, etc...), purpose and extent of visit matches, date of birth matches, correct gender, work visa length is correct, person is not on wanted list.

And if anything is off you need to interrogate which can take forever to comb through the nit picky details because later in the game you need to have a vaild reason for denying entry and can't just quickly rubber stamp it. And to top it off at specific points in the game there are special rules that come into play. While you are doing all of this you have to also keep an eye out for terrorist activities.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger - 8/10
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing - 8/10
Rise of the Triad (2013) - right now, 3/10. If they fix it so it's playable, then I might increase the score. right now I don't even want to play it.
