List some books you've read recently.... and give a */10

I've a great deal of traveling over the festive period and was looking for some books to read to pass the time. Perusing the internet for this year's bestsellers has not provided much of interest.

In the spirit of the TV/movie thread I thought it would be nice to have a literary version.

I figure books recommended by the ATOT crowd will align with my interests far better than those recommended by the internet in general.

Blindsight by Peter watts 8/10
Pretty good first contact sci-fi with some philosophical questions about what defines consciousness

I read for a living so I don't "read" for pleasure. That said, i do listen to audiobooks and hope that qualifies me for participation in the thread.

Recently I listened to Stephen King's "IT." 9.5/10. Was absolutely blown away by it until the ending (which I didn't really care for). King's flashback descriptions of Derry in 1958 and earlier were remarkably engaging.
