List of Mini-DTX motherboards

Everything that is between mini ITX and full ATX is micro ATX, filters on amazon and newegg and probably many other stores are correctly written.

Mini-DTX is 170mm x 203mm (6.7" x 8.0")....and therefore any board between 170mm x 171mm and 170mm x 203mm is Mini-DTX.

One problem I have noticed in this thread is that I (and Winisis) have the measurement convention reversed (ie, boards that I and Winisis are labeling 170mm x 190mm should be labeled 190mm x 170mm).

Example: the link in the post #26 (above) lists Mini-DTX as 203mm x 170mm (not 170mm x 203mm) and the motherboard listing for H81H3-M4 (V1.0A) shows 190mm x 170mm, not 170mm x 190mm.

So whoever calls Winisis on that WT-02 case please mention that to them in addition to opening up the second PCI slot.

Not *quite* as bad when you see it in person, and there are a few others in the same lineup that look a little better.

...but yeah, it ain't super-stylish. Pity... the size is absolutely perfect!

I don't get why they didn't swap the PCIe16 slot so it could be used in ITX cases with dual-slot cards. They'd have sold like hotcakes! *sigh*

For a board with M.2, I think that would be a especially good idea....then the M.2 slot could be on the front of the board instead of on the back as we see with the LGA 1151 Mini-ITX boards.

So PCIe x16 in position 1 and M.2 Ultra + possibly a small PCIe slot in position 2.

Furthermore, for a PC enclosure like Coolermaster Elite 110 such M.2 placement would have the extra benefit of having two (optional) 80mm fans blowing directly on the motherboard area that would have the SSD.

(Shown above is the Elite 110 case with Mini-ITX board. For Mini-DTX imagine the motherboard extending up to 33mm closer to the 80mm fans (with the M.2 slot right next to the 80mn fans)

P.S. Would like to see some AM4 Mini-DTX boards with the above PCIe slot/M.2 arrangement.

Regarding a high performance video card for a slim Mini-DTX (aka "slim dual slot Mini-ITX") case (like the Silverstone in post #14 and potentially the Winsis in post #18), I asked the following question in the VC&G forum:

First thing that popped in my mind was FM2+ A88X Mini-ITX motherboard, but then I noticed all the current models only support six SATA ports (even though A88X supports eight SATA).

Would a Mini-DTX with A88X chipset have made the eight SATA ports possible? I think it could have due to the extra board real estate.

Pretty sure the intent is that you use a RAID controller. Onboard SATA wouldn't matter.

All boards support DDR4 and have PCIe x 16 in the outer position with a PCIe x 1 in the inner position. The C21 only has VGA for display output, while the C23 and C2H add 2 HDMI 1.4a and 1 HDMI 1.4a respectively. Otherwise they appear to be the same in specification.

that's kinda awesome. per wiki a GTS 450 was 106 watts TDP, so that cooler should be good for a 1050, maybe even enough for a 1060 or 470.

i wonder how many systems with that sort of case have a pcie power cable, however?

edit: my work computer does not appear to have a pcie cable

Majority of the mDTX (2-slot) and FlexATX (3-slot) motherboards are H110 chipset.
I would like to see an H170 or even Z170 chipset ... they have more real estate for better parts placement.

The HP Pavilion Slimline s3000 computer chassis (ARCHES) was designed for mDTX motherboards (2-slots, short expansion cards).
Works for mITX as well.

The original HP s3000 motherboards used AMD processors (hence mDTX usage), and these cases are dirt cheap (eBay right now for $2). The power supply (Flex, IPC-1U) is mounted at top of case.
The Seasonic power supply (300W, 80Gold) is a potential replacement.

You do need to check for clearances (power supply cables, etc.), due to tight fit -- but a good economical computer case.

BTW, the Winsys WR-02 case is a clone of HP S5000 chassis.

I have already retro-fitted the later HP Slimline S5000 cases,

One s5000 case has the Gigabyte H97N-WiFi (mITX), the other an Intel DH87RL mobo (mATX) -- yes a full mATX mobo fits the s5000 case, but 2 slots are unavailable.
Both using the 65W "S" series Haswell processors.

I had modDIY custom build (hand-solder, my specs) replacement USB 3.0 front panel cable for s5000 case with Gigabyte board. This cable still required DIY (removing their heat-shrink and hot glue to fit into space). They are selling this cable for the s5000 mod now.

I saw you recommend the Winisis WT-02 case (which comes with TFX PSU) in this post.

Looking at the internal layout it appears to have room for Mini-DTX, but they blocked off the second expansion slot.

In fact, looking at the specs at the Winsis website here, it does list two form factors for the motherboard (170mm x 170mm and 170mm x 190mm).



Maybe someone should call them and ask for a version with that second slot made available? (It would fit every Mini-DTX board I have listed in this thread with the exception of the ECS H61H2-MV (LGA 1155) which is spec'd at 17x19.5cm (EDIT) and BIOSTAR AM1MH (Socket AM1 board) which is 170mm x 191mm)

Just out of curiosity, did anyone try to contact Winsis about them adding the second slot?

For folks that are thinking about getting the Elite 110 case one thing to consider is Mini-DTX (or "Mini-DTX plus" which I am calling this board because it is a bit larger at 7.5" x 7.4") with PCIe x 16 in the second position + tall cooler single slot card:
