It has become much more cumbersome to update this post via new "new and improved" forum software, so my 2CPU.com thread mirror may be more up-to-date.

Thanks for this great research. I signed the petition; now if only I could find a place to pick up a 3DLabs Wildcat VP 560 for a reasonable price (newegg appears to have the best price but doesn't ever seem to get them in stock). :(

Anyway, let's keep this thread bumped for a bit, because IMHO it is a great resource that should benefit many people in this forum. Thanks again. :)

Once the Ti4200 card from Asus ships, it will be a very hot commodity. Hopefully, the advent of Radeon 9200/9600/9800 and GeForce FX card will push the price on the V9280 Video Studio well under $150, if not more. I think most folks will live with the horsepower of a Ti4200. I know I will.

-SUO, currently using a Leadtek GF2MX dual-VGA card

Excellent work, quite comprehensive.

I think I read somewhere that the GeForce FX is set up to support three DVI outputs...

I already listed the Wildcat VP cards above, just as one link.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, only the VP 990 and 560 are dual DVI. The rest have one DVI connector and one HD15 (analog).

After looking at the Wildcat cards (Google -> images), I corrected/dropped the appropriate links.

I found the Asus V8280 Video Suite (Ti4200-based) in stock on a few European sites. The current prices were no less that 248 euros, which might equate to US$275 (if the exchange rates are up-to-date).

-SUO, wanting this card badly ... but not for over $200!

Wow, that 512mb Wildcat VP 990 Pro is just insane! I would be scared to even ask how much that card sells for.

IIRC, it's expected to be just slightly under US$1000. :(

i have the gainward golden sample one...

it's actually kind of grainy...and video output really blows w/it..ther eare scan lines all over my tv

i replaced it w/the radeon 9700 pro. while i had to sacrifice one of my dvi to analog, i don't regret it, because it's damn nice, and video output rules.

Rufio, are knocking the Gainward card because of video-out and not necessarily a problem with DVI?

video out is a big part of the card for me, and if that looks bad, then it's not good enough for me.

plus, w/the dvi output, it was a little grainy for me. when i played dvd's, it didn't look as good as my older geforce 4600ti card.

maybe it was my card, maybe not. but i bought mine off a forum and i can't just return it because it doesn't look as nice. plus the seller was not very helpful in this situation so i decided to let it drop.

OK, Rufio. I'll make a mental note that the DVI output on that card may be a little less than desired.

I seriously hope Asus gets their Ti4200 or FX versions here in the States in short order. I'm chomping at the bit!
