List of all possible Domain Names

Where can I get a list of all the currently active domain names in US. I need this for a college project and would appreciate any help.

once i did a search with the dictionary at my side, to see how many words in the English language have been turned into domain names. i looked from "aa" to about "ac", maybe as far as actin-something, an isotope of uranium.

looks like the whole English language has been registered as a domain name !

so, anyway, the dictionary provides a list of most of the single-word domain names.
